Seriously, the English on this board is sometimes pretty bad. Even my JDM GF has better English than a lot of people here...
People please understand the differences between "there", "their" and "they're" or "too" and "to". This is Elementary school stuff.
Sorry for my rant on English but it bother's me and I even hated English when I was in school...
MY SIR: I'm glad you understood what I was trying to say.

My friend with the talon has NO problems with fixing his car himself, and over the last year I've learnt how to do basically anything to honda's. I only went down to shoot the **** and lend a hand because I too have ripped appart those motor's before and know what I'm doing.

Tikel: How much does the average kid spend? God only knows, but what I do know is everytime I goto a place that has engines, I laugh at the kids who spend 4 grand or more for just PARTS for a swap, then most of those guys pay someone else to install it for them. Nevermind modding the car once its been swapped.... do you see where I'm coming from here. I'm lucky because I can do the labor myself and I've always had ZERO problems locating parts at a relativly cheap price.

Bodykits and paint are an entirly different issue, because even more money is dropped into that sort of stuff.

Do you now understand what I mean when I meantioned money.... that probably doesn't apply to you because you bought a car that was already modded and didn't have to do any of that yourself.

I gotta tell you, I'm in love with my Civic, and I've had it for 6 years... and it's my 3rd one! I will never sell it!

I did just dump in a pile of $ into it, and that just made me love it that much more. Transformed it into a phenemenal car for Auto-x which is my biggest interest right now.

- Ground Control / Koni Yellow/ Eibach Coilovers
- Lightweight Kosei Wheels with Toyo RA1's
- Civic VTi (LSD) Tranny (get this, it rawks!!!)
- GSR Swaybars, LCA's and Energy Bushings
- GSR Brakes, Powerslot Rotors, Stainless Lines

Nothing crazy, still a stock non-vtec D15 but it still has no problem beating on cars that are supposed to be a whole hell of a lot faster.

Wouldn't be my platform of choice if I was trying to build a screamer but who wants that?

All cars have there ups and downs.
If you go for a ride in a fast whatever make, model car you'll want one. Trust me I know.

I hated my Civic at first but grew to love it and thus spent money on it. I'd do it again too and most likely will one day when I'm better off finaically.

However every car has different things that it does well and there so many cars to choose from when looking for a new ride. I don't Honda/Acura has too many crazy impressive cars in there line up today or for the past decade. The Civic was always a ecno box and the Teg GS-R and Type R was a sports coupe, along with the Prelude. Not to say Hondas are bad but if they want to compete with the other cars out there they need a turbo or a swap or something else which can be costly.
It's a a hobby to build cars for me. If I want something fast out of the box I'd save for years and buy a Camaro ZL1 super car. However I like take my imports and making them quick.

That said after my Prelude, I might venture into another import camp.

LOL, Mark finally blew up, when he mentioned the bad grammar on the board on friday, I knew it was only a matter of time before he made a rant about it.

i agree wth Torrey,

to have a fast car might as well buy a fast one NO?
i know we have a passion for our cars, thats cool as well but Torrey is making a very valid point.

im thinking of picking up my buddies Integra for 500 bucks and selling my SIR just b/c i think i need a change,,,,,
ive been looking at luxury ( kinda ) or something that came stock with boost..... but having my SIr is low maintenance my monthly payments on this car is insanely low..... and insurance is reasonable.

id definately think of a WRX, or a SRT4 in the near future, or maybe just give it all up and buy a JEEP/SUV to pull a BOAT.

good thread.. no flames intended

hehe... yea, i ain't never seen mark get so uptight! it's good to see you're alive and kicking mark.

and yes, pardon my ghetto english.. hehe

but to point on what torrey said. it's kind of true. but for most people it's a priorty in life thing. for those that drop large amounts on their cars, its cause they love it. for a lot of people its what makes the time go, its not to be used as an investment. no type of car is an investment (aside from antiques maybe).

maybe im getting older now and realizing that cars are more for A to B now... but then, i have alotta money tied up in condos.. live and learn!

i agree with torrey, engine swaps, force-induction are a waste of money for civics ... civics were never meant to be fast ... even with all that jazz, it still can't beat a stock TL etc, ... if you want to go faster, buy a fast car, not dump $10-15K in engine mods into a $5K eg hatch ... when you grow older other priorities will come about, i just realized this recently ... a car is a car, but there are more important this in life ...

yeah why swap or go forced induction when you can rice out your car!!!!!

so you think body kits and wings are fine then? there probably the worst since they totally ruin the car

dont worry... just think of it as something to laugh at and cops are always more attracted to a rice mobile then a normal looking civic

bdotdan - wtf is your problem?

serious would you drop in $15K into a civic that is starting to decay in several years, just to run a quick 1/4 mile ... with that money i would put it towards a better car, or even better save for future use (house) ... no matter how fast or nice looking a civic is, it will always be a civic ... it has only a limited life span, so why bother? ...

i like to mod my car's exterior, it's called being different ... most people want that ... i would careless about speed or going fast ... i'm done with my car, it's finished ... now that i look at it, it's like a fad, you grow out of these things eventually and i have ... i know there are alot of hardcore people out there, but don't they think about their future ... i mean it's cool now, but would you still want to drive the same car at 50 yrs old, of course not ... i'm just saying spend your money wisely, or you could regret later with that twin-turbo civic

lastly i hate it when people use the would ricer & rice, it's over used and a nuisance
