like any hobby/lifestyle, it will have its ups and downs. Its just how the world works.

Remember marbles, jeez they have been around for ages but came back with a vengence a few years ago, same will happen with the import scene.

the import scene has died..its the ricers that made the whole import scene big in the first place.. so if they dioe down it would seem as if the scnee is dying down.. the next f& f is some drift themed movie.. i believe so watch out for the hatchie roku wannabes.. that guy who says he wants to mod to improve handlingwhich in turn gives driving pleasure? BS.. if you dont corner all that fast and you drive normal then what does handling and this and that matter? honda and toyota and other car manufacturers have tested the cars according to spec.. who says what you do is going to improve it.. its just an excuse to mod in my eyes. i guess modding wil lmake your car look cooler.. but it gets to the point where if your e a early 30's dad picking up his kids from school in a 'tricked' out honda when the non-modifiers are pickin theire kids up in an SUV..who hass it better? in this situation where do you see yourself? as the loser who didnt grow up or the better guy?
Last time I checked my husband and I own our cars, sure right now they are our daily drivers, but if I didn't have a health issue, I'd be putting this car away for a toy and picking myself up something a little more luxurious. That now has to wait for an additional year. I have to take time off working.

How can you say that something someone has a passion about or a hobby in makes them a loser?? Why does driving a modded car picking up kids from school make you immature?? Does that mean my Father-in-law who has a modified BMW 540 with the M package is a loser?? He's probably chipping the car next, what a loser with a 400 HP BMW.

You know everyone starts somewhere, and I know alot of retired people whose passion it is to restore a car like their first one (what a waste of time and money, huh?)

Bottom line...don't listen to guys like this who think growing up means giving up all that you enjoy...and if it makes this 30 something person (me) immature, well screw what you think.

Lucky our passion continued (all three of us are above 30) because we could have let the site go when others lost their passion for it.

Agreed michelle.

My dad loves modding just as much as the next guy....WHY? Becuase he likes cars, and is still young at heart, but current situations dont allow for him to do alot, but he still appreciates, and he loves when he gets to take my car for a drive.

He has a dynomax muffler on his Hemi Durrango and he was like a kid in a candy store the first week he got it

Beside the car, we own a condo, pay the mortgage, maintain a household...and my son does not want for anything.

The kid has his own TV in his room, DVD player, Game Cube, Game Boy Advance (and DS), his own stereo in his room. **** the kid could furnish his own apartment if he had a couch and he's only 7. Kid plays soccer, does swimming lessons, wants to play hockey next year, travelled to Disney twice now, been to Niagara Falls with us several times, and has our attention 24/7. He already has a RESP maximized and his own GIC's for a hopefully a down payment on his first house.

Boy am I an unfit parent and a loser.

Boy is he a loser (sarcasm) hmmmmm....looks to me that your father is a responsible human being, and will explore his passion when funds and time allows.

wooooooooooooooooow.. i didnt even mean it like that..its true that the internet doesnt really convey the message that was meant..
loser was the wrong word i agree..and im sorry if u took offense to it.. i agree modifying will never leave some ppl but from a personal perspective.. i for one would think something of someone my age when im ssay.. maybe not 30 but in my 50's

driving this

and i m sure u would also and i know this because ive bin to a few meets and have seen 'ricer ' cars come in and ppl passing stupid comments this on teh other hand.

as u said

is not gonna get laughed at.. its the degree of modification that opne puts into the car that will determine how mature they are.. thats how i see it.. i dont know why you decided to take this as a personal attack as you do not know me or know how old i am..
and about youre restoring comment.. no i wouldnt say its a waste of time to restore your first car b/c it hold sentimental value to you.. but in the case of the person i mentioned..by the looks of his sig if that is his car..tehn id say he wasnt restoring it.. he was till modding it and its true modded cars dont add value..with that degree of modification..i hope you got my points across more clearer this time..

The way I see it, and it has been started before.....Cars will always be customized, wether it's a bumper sticker, or a full body kit. Modding has been around longer then most people on the scene on. As long as there is auto racing, there will be modding.

It comes from you can't judge a book by its cover. Why do we call someone a loser who does something to their car that we don't like. If they like it, who cares...

Fat *** wing and dual diagonal exhaust does not make a person, it may not be your style or my style, but who are we to say they don't take care of their obligations just becuase they didn't follow the crowd and be the parent who drives an SUV.

I didn't call anyone a loser.. i merely said that if someone does up a car in a way that we particularly dont like we will cal lhim/her a ricer and in this case i was referring to a loser.in this context. (when some guy at KC would screech his tires or rev really high and show off.. ppl would call him a loser correct? " oh wat a loser, i would hear" dont even tell me its not true.. cause i know it is) and therefore do not like their style claiming it to be cheesy.. that why all the threads in here that are titled ' rice or not' or something like that are closed cause to each his own. Do you understand my point? Or are just going to keep arguing a point about kids and obligaitons? which i wont even comment on b/ci did not say ANYTHING about someone whoe mods cars not taking care of their obligaitons. if you read my post well enough you would have seen that.. i didnt say that a person who picks up their kid in a tircked out honda is a loser.. i said. .who has it better in life ..meaning.. maturity wise... modding will never grow out of a person if they love it.. i sure won't stop. But my tastes will change and I'm sure yours will too..yea so what if their car looks like that one i poseted.. sure the guy could be some cool awesome guy to hang out wiht. a great parent and this and that but b/c that car isnt exactly what i would do personally..i wouldnt like that car.. i wouldnt even remotley think that he/she was a bad parent or any of that crap your saying.. maybe you might but not me.. yea he likes it so what. .i do'nt its a free country and i can like what i wnat.. i wont say anything about it ..b/c i could care less. im not the one driving it. i wouldnt say anything either if it was an suv.. i can think what i want and u can think what you want.. but if you're trying to tell me what to think..thats where you go all wrong.

btw mechatune is a great person.. i know of this as i have met him at many meets.. so i know his car up there may not be to my liking.. but hes still a cool guy..
