buying 99-00 siR
Hello all
I'm just wondering on what i should look out for when buying a 99-00 siR w/100k. I know about checking the VIN, making sure that they all match on the car and on CARFAX. But other than that what else should i look out for to make sure that i am not getting a lemon?
i've checked out a lot that have been scrap brought over from the US then repaired.
Also, how much is an siR w/100km worth?

I paid $15500 + tax for my 00 SiR with 85k on it.
It's in overall very good shape. A couple minor flaws, but nothing too serious.
100k it's due for a timing belt/water pump change.
Plus do a SEARCH on here on TCC. I asked the same question about 3 or 4 months ago.

Ok Well there are many things you should look for, and here are some:
Do a good check on the exterior
Look around windows, fenders, lights to make sure the car has not been painted
Look under the hood for any leaks or oil
Do a compression test on the motor
Check for timing belt/water pump replacement
Opent the trunk, remove the carpet and look for any suspicious welds or metal (indicated it has been repaird)
Make sure all fenders, hood, sunroof lines are lining up nicely (gap on one side same as the other side)
Go iside and check fo tears and rips
Make sure nothing is missing from the inside
Drive the car adn listen for noises, clunks, grinds in tranny, etc
Make sure you "go" into VTEC, and should hear it kick in around 5700 rpm
Make sure everything feels tight and not lose when driving
Shifting gears should be nice and smooth
Ask seller for all available recipets and records so you can check KMs , etc.
I bought my 99 in october for 14 000 and it had 70k then. it is in amazing condition.

That also means, if it gets stolen, they won't give you SIR worth money

if the vin number returns under SI it maybe means its still under US Model, I know that theft recoveries when brought here can be changed to SiR. maybe your is still under si......who knows or maybe your car is a cdn si with an SiR conversion??? who knows sounds to fishy.... look for another one bud.
