B16 - B18
B16 :fight: B18
this is an educated question ... as i've done my homework on this **** my car is a 98 DX coupe and i'm lookin to do a conversion the last time i looked into doin it was beginning of last summer i hope costs wouldn't have changed that much ? GSR $6-6500$ B18C1 SiR $5-5400$ B16A2 installed ! still true ? i want to try and do it myself ... any advise ? i realize the swap is pretty straight forward but wiring is where the troubles may appear ! any one done a GSR in a civic got some advise ? my engine is a D16 ? ? with about 165,000 kms on it now what's it worth ? engine, tranny (5spd),ecu, driveshafts anything i don't need ! thinking of an EL conversion too ! anyone done this ? cost ? do the parts just interchange ? thanx dudes cool beans bro |
Those prices are the highest i have ever seen.
B16A2 installed should be around 3000-4000. For 6000 you can get a type R dropped in there. BTW did you ask your buddy about that trade? |
yep ... he's not sure ... i think cash will be his best bet right now !
$3-4 that's good man ! jdm ? where's your hook up ? oh yeah the prices i said where all maintenence done like fluids changed, timing belt, water pump, clutch, what else... type R would be bad ass ! |
yah he's right, $6-$6500 is way too high, who quoted you that price honda, haha!
|
Gs-r swap would be awesome man, I got a 98 dx coupe too and im prolly going with an LS turbo or LS/vtec setup(N/A)
|
Don't mix and match blocks and heads. It won't be reliable. Get something solid from factory. I personaly like B16 for its high revs and solid structure. Its is more bullet proof than the B18C as far as I'm concerned. And it has a very decent gear box as well. A complete B16 swap runs for around $2500~$3000 now-a-days.
|
im really not worrying about engine till next year most likely, and even then i wont be doing the work myself most likely...ill get a pro to do it.
|
For $6500 I could get a H22 installed in an EG, those are some high ass prices.
I'd go for the B18C1 personally. It's not to hard to swap an engine yourself if you have the tools and know how. Wiring is a bitch though. |
Altech does B16 swaps for $3000.
inlcudes: -tranny -engine -computer -hoses, wires, etc etc -installation Not bad at all :) |
where is this place man ?
they offer warranty ? that is a wicked price ! the engines are jdm ? thanx bro ! |

I'd go for the B 18 for that extra torque to feel
the accelaration... |
now the question is: why would u wanna do that to a car that is 16 years old?
I mean, I dunno how much money u have and stuff, but I think its better to get a en EK hatch and drop in B16 .... |

they obviously do top notch jobs ? $3000 sounds like an awesome price ! GSR is about $1000 more ? that would be bad ass ... 98 civic GSR ... ummm sounds good ! |
