Auto or Standard for someone who always had auto

I'm planning to get an RSX soon and I'm considering between auto or stick. I have only driven auto before and stick once. I don't want to make a mistake in my decision. So for everyone who has stick have you ever regreted it? maybe driving in heavy traffic? too tired to drive or lazy? Also what color should i get? i'm thinking between the blue, black or white (seems to be the IN color now)

Id go for the white colour. IMO it looks sick. I;ve had stick before and auto. Ya in traffic it sucks having a standard but it has its upsides. If your going to be driving in traffic everyday then i would go for auto. But if your going to be in traffic once in a while then stick is your choice. Personally i've had more fun with a standard vehicle. But in the end its your choice, right.

I've had one auto car before and the only time I miss it is when I'm sitting in stop-and-go traffic. Otherwise, I prefer stick.

A stick can also be better on gas, more performance oriented and easier to fix and maintain.

An auto may increase resale though.

Now that I have 6 speeds, I can't go back.

I like white colour for the RSX, no real reason, just looks nice.

As for auto or stick, I learned on my dad's auto and drove that for a while until I got my current car, which is stick.

Personally, I think it is a bit more entertaining to drive stick but not a huge difference. Plus it is a pain when I am stuck in traffic. It's true you would theoretically save gas, mainly on the highway, but it depends on your driving habits too, if you are rev happy all the time the difference will be neglible. And the few more whp you lose from an auto tranny shouldn't make you break your enjoyment of the car.

But all that being said, there is something about stick that just makes the driving experience better for some people. It is really up to you to figure out if you would like it. Personally I like stick more but try both and see which one you feel.

stick definitely sounds more fun. but being a driver of auto for years now i wonder if i have to practise parallel parking again or reverse into a parking spot.

With a stick the hardest thing to learn is stop & go.

I driven stick alot (10+ yrs) and I finding I much rather have an auto now. Does the RSX have a 5 speed auto? If it does it will be either on par or better than stick for your mpg.

It has to with the fact that automatic is more ineffiecent than a manual. More power is lost through an automatic rather than a stick because of the design.

Don't go for an auto RSX, you'll regret it.

go for white!

and i'd say stick...I drove auto up and still do these days(parents or brother's cars), but i'm on my third car now in 4 yrs, all three have been stick, my first was a 93 prelude, and i learned on that...although sitting in traffic does suck, it'sj ust alot more fun to drive...but i'm also not in traffic very much since i bus to school downtown mon-fri...

depends on ur situation but if u are gonna get an automatic...maybe look at a different vehicle, like the CSX with the paddle shifters!...but i think for an RSX, you'd have the most fun with stick

White w/ stick

Dont worry about parrell or backing in, it will all become second nature to you. The same with traffic. The problem will become when you get into an auto and try and put your foot on the clutch..lol.

Also, keep in mind the decision isn't auto or standard, it's more like semi-auto vs. standard because the RSX automatic has Sequential Sportshift right?

Although that isn't the same as driving stick, being able to manually select which gear you are in is more fun than a regular automatic transmission.

thanks alot for all the advice. i'm getting the RSX more because it look then for its performace so even if i get auto i won't mind losing the power. everyone seems to like white or black. whats wrong with blue? some people think it looks cheap. i have a black civic now and scratches are so visible plus black hides the body lines of a car.

i learned to drive in an auto car... but when i bought my civic i bought a stick and learned on that... and i havn't regreted it yet... sure i guess traffic does suck... but not really... cause the ability to have more control of the car over shadows sticks disadvantages by far.....man half the reason i love my car so much is because its so fun to drive.... auto is so boring... gas break gas break gas break...Zzzz..Zzzz...Zzzzz .... and then you die... lol..... stick is great.... i think every car i get from here on out is gonna be stick untill i get really old and lazy and jsut want to cruz... lol....

plus.... auto and stick is like thongs and boxers... which do you want to be seen in???
