I just called a taxi company (I won't say which one), and they told me that they are offering a flat rate of $30 to get downtown from my place, and the same price for the return trip for the holiday season (I'm near Pac Mall). If I booked with them for both trips, I would save $5....tax incld. So why is this a good deal?

I would rather leave my car at home safe and sound, than have to drive to a party, pay for parking (oh, you forgot that little detail didn't you? ), and find out later that it might of gotten broken into while I was having fun.

Considering that this is a one way trip, then it's the same price you would pay a limo company from the airport, to take you to the airport.

I also called Keys Please, and they said that for each additional drop off (ie.....I was the driver that picked up 2 other people at 2 different locations), it would cost an extra $10 per drop off to get those people home. (from the locations I gave them)

Taking that into accont, it would of cost me $70 - $80, because of the drop off locations, and the finall pick up and drop off points I gave them. I didn't ask if there was tax included in that price. Probably not.

Want a cheaper alternative?

Use the TTC (not TCC ), and then take a taxi home. Comes out to be cheaper.

Keys Please IS a good alternative for those people that WANT to drive thier car to a party.

Thanks for the heads up Dave. I'll give the number to a few of my "have to take my car everywhere I go" car crazy friends, but I'll probably be a DD this year, so I won't use them.

Good idea though. Props to them.

Here's an alternative.......book a hotel stay downtown somewhere. Comes out to be about the same price....maybe a bit more.....but at least the party would contiue.

BTW, what happens if the KP's DD gets into an accident? Will the car's owners insurance pay, or does Keys Please cover that with thier own insurance coverage?

Good point, if the KP company had their own insurance policy that would make them look a whole lot safer.

wow, it's almost like taking a cab, except some total stranger gets to drive your car no thanks, I think I just won't drink, or I just won't drive. I think the options are pretty clear. Why in the world would you take your car and drink... it's not like you DON'T know your car is outside, or it's not like you DON'T know you'll be drinking. Ooops, I fell and a bottle of champaigne landed in my mouth
