anyone switch back to Conventional oil from Synthetic?
hey guys just a question?
has anyone done this?
has anyone had problems?
the reason why i ask is Price of Synthetic!
how often are u changing it?
b/c if u change it every 5000kms its pretty much useles am i correct due to the cost, i know about the added impurities, but what is ur SAY in this??
would anything happened to the motor??? or the gaskets, seals?

some engine builders say the oil will get past the rings (blow by) and of course the result is burning oil... The reasoning is the cyl walls become saturated in synthetic oil and the dino juice will slip between the synthetic coating on the walls and the piston rings.
I guess your car can be the official TCC oil switch back guinni pig
Why are you changing synthetic every 5,000km anyway? Its good for almost 2wice that length of time. Just use a good filter.

Our Mini Cooper hasn't done its first oil change yet. It is set at 15,000 km, with full synthetic.
Oil like Motul 8100 can be used for at least 10,000km. Provided you drive normal and not using it as endurance racing oil.
I am so due for an oil change. I am on Motul 300V and I have used it for almost 8000km.
As far as switching back, many say it is only a myth however, my take on this is as long as the engine oil meets the min. requirement from the OEM spec, you should be fine, no?

Says right on your stock airbox.
I'm not saying follow it, but changing oil every 3K is a waste. Or hell synthetic every 7K..

U shouldn't put Synthetic oil in your car in the beginning. U should let your engine to break in since it is new. Maybe 15.000km after then u should put Synthetic.
I never use Synthetic because i think it is a waste of $$$. Also my oil drain plug is leaking sometimes so if i use synthetic i can't afford to top up my engine oil. They say for Synthetic oil it can last like 10.000-15.000km. I don't think it is true. Oil gets dirty too. Whatever their recommendations or manufactures say that's all bs. The car might run a little smoother when u have Syn oil. That's the only diff i feel. Other than that, nothing.

I notice my oil starts to break down about 4000-5000kms of boosting. I run Mobil 1 10W30 and my oil pressure when the oil is fresh is around 20-22psi at idle while after use sits around 17-20psi. May not seem like much of a difference, but you can notice it.

Synthetics are more stable than dino oils thanks to their well-structured molecular structure (molecules of consistent size & molecular weight). They are less prone to thermal and oxidative breakdown.
A comparison of an used oil analysis (e.g., amount of wear particles accumulation, insolubles, total base number (TBN)) between a synthetic and a dino oil will reveal that a synthetic does allow longer drain interval.

5000km is correct. Whoever or whatever the manufacture says u can change oil every 10.000-15.000km is all bs. The oil is already dirty at that pt. Maybe some addictives are added inside but it is still dirty no matter what. Some people say when u go on highway a lot u don't need oil change as often. Everyone has their own opinion, but it is common sense that oil after 10.000-15.00 isn't going to be clean.

Synthetic doesn't break down as fast. Hence the longer interval's for changing. Its still going to be dirty yes. But synthetic is far superior. If your broke just go semi-synthetic.
BTW my van had Full synthetic for year's and I switched back to dino oil and it didn't leak or run bad. you should be all good. But treat your Honda good. Get Semi-Synthetic.

thanks i treat my honda great,
anyways i thought to myself that oil changes dont have to be done for 10,000kms... would u think this is realistically a long time to change?
i do mostly hwy driving to work!
and if i changed every 5000kms that only last up to 1.5 months
