Acura 1.7 EL ... Your opinion Please
I currently have a 2001 LX Coupe.. Thinking of trading it in for an Acura EL. What are the thoughts of the EL.. Yes No Maybe So? Any advice or opinions on this matter would be helpful.
Thanks,
Ig

keep the coupe or get the older 1.6 EL , I hate the new 4dr civics and the 1.7 El shares the same platform, I HATE IT, NO offence to the 7th gen 4dr owners , this is just myopinion. Keep your coupe, i think the 7th gen coupe looks better than the 4dr

I think that the coupe looks much nicer than the sedans!! But appearance is a matter of personal preference so it's up to you!
However, with the Acura you'd get more luxurious accomodations like leather seating. I'm pretty sure that there are also several options on the 1.7EL that you can't find on Civics too... just can't name any right now!

I love the look of the coupe..It looks really nice but a 2 door is becoming a pain in the butt. I am actually using my back seat now for passangers and to put stuff in. I'm thinking the EL with the aero package and then tint the windows. There is something to be said about 2 door the sporty look but I've seen sedans done nicely that also look really good. I now also have no Vtec.. on the highway I pray for vtec yet it is not there.

my mom has an EL premium, its a nice car and all but if you're paying that kinda money and you want some *****, may I suggest the EP SiR ..... I love that car it looks great and has even more power with the DOHC i-vtec, and the funny thing is ... a premium EL is the same price as a SiR...... do you really have to think about that ?

he's thinking of 4 door though.. I love my car, and the ONLY other car I would consider for a sedan would be the TSX.. but the price is like $41000 on the road...
1.7 I found didn't have power at all.. even compared to the 1.6 b/c my gf has the 1.6 Premium, and it "seems" quicker than the 1.7
don't bother with the aero package or whatever.. just go aftermarket for skirt packages etc....

my dad has 1.7, i think it's quite nice. sometimes i think it's faster than my coupe! ya, same engine and all, but the inside is totally different i must say.
and i hear ya, sometimes, you'd just feel a 2 door is a pain in the ***!
i drove 1.6 before and I still think 1.7 is better

Value in Class Honda rocks!
Thank you all for replying with your thoughts. I don't anything crazy fast, just something that I can drive leisurely but has enough kick to get up and go when I need it. I more of a lay back enjoy the ride kind of driver so I don't need lots of horse. I just want a fun, nice looking car that's reliable and won't bust the wallet terribly I want a compact sedan and my thoughts are that the 1.7 for the price and value is pretty damn good.

EL = Civic look-a-like with 127hp but heavier
You buy it for the luxury options and not the performance right? Not a cheap car, but good and reliable. Spend alittle more and get RSX.
I personally hate the new Civics...no offence to any of you 7th gen ppl. I just see more old people driving it and think they are cool, I don't want to get mix up with that old folks thing..lol

if you dont want pure speed........ then i would definatly go for the 1.7
interior is alot nicer then a civic ( leather, nicer controls etc. )
probably a bit quieter too....... if you want it to be a little quicker...... add a few bolt ons......
