2003-2008 Corolla or 2003-2005 Civic??
Im looking into a new car when spring rolls around and initially had my mind set on a 2005 Civic 4dr Si. Looked into the 2003-2008 Corolla's and have found that Corolla's are around the same price if not a bit cheaper.
I have found some 2005 Corolla S models for about 14G give or take a grand with about 60km or so.
Civics are around the same for an 2005 Si with about the same mileage.
I drive about 60k a year and need something thats really quiet on the highway and is comfortable to drive (the EK just isnt cutting it anymore). The big plus for me is that the Corolla uses a timing chain opposed to a timing belt that the honda uses.
I test drove a Corolla for a short period of time and couldnt take it on the highway.
Has anyone else driven both these cars?
If so which would u say is more comfortable for long drives?
Thanks!

I can't pronounce myself on the Corollas because I have not driven one, but my wife has an 04 4DR Si auto, and we love it. The car is very comfortable, suspension a bit stiff compared to my 07 Ex sedan, but over all, we don't have any complaints at all.
The only money we put into it were for gas and oil, and the breaks once. The car has almost 80K on it. If you ask me, I'd say getting an 04-05 Si is definitely worth it, provided you can get it for a good price.

For 14g's you could almost buy a base model brand new Civic or Corolla.
I used to have an 03 Civic LX and I thought it was a great car on the highway. It was very good on gas and very reliable. No problems with the car at all. It wasn't the best performing car, but for a daily driver it was great. It may heave a timing belt, but how often does it get changed? 160,000 ks I think.
As for the Corolla, having built them, I'll say that they are built alot cheaper then the Civics. Much lower quality materials and they were so simple and basic compared to a Civic. My Civic was very solid compared the any Corolla I've ever driven. The Corolla's are very reliable and have excellent resale value just like the Civic. An Si Sedan will at least be fully loaded and have the 127HP D17 VTEC motor. The Corolla will have similar hp but alot less options from what I remember fromthe ones I built.

Plus a guy putting 60k km a year (thats a LOT of driving) should NOT buy a new car, he is already completely destroying any resale value of the car the first year, might as well save some money and let someone else pay for the first depreciation...
I'd go with the Civic, the Corolla (specially the old generation) always felt kind of boring and basic...

14G wont' buy you anything, the cheapest is like $16k, before PDI freight and all the other "new car taxes"...

I would think that someone who is putting that kind of k's on a car wouldn't really be worried about resale anyway. Especially if they planned on driving it alot and keeping it for a long time. Besides, a well maintained, high k Civic or Corolla still holds its resale.

i think im going to stick with the civic.....the corollas reliability isnt as good as i thought it would be.
ECU's are known problems
Rust on the door sill under the weatherstrip (which ive seen on every corolla i looked at)
AC condensors not well protected letting rocks puncture holes in it
Those are just a few that i read about
