2002 Civic Si Brakes

Hey Everybody. I'm hoping somebody here can shed some light on the brakes.

My gf has a 2002 Civic Si and it's been long overdue for new brake pads. The problem is that I've been told that the lower models (DX, LX, etc) only need front brake pads while the Si use 4. I see this on car websites, such as http://www.car-stuff.com/.

BUT, my gf's father just looked at them today and said that they use a brake drum system (did I say that correctly??). He said that they use brake shoes.

Also, the only info I could find usually say the Si is a hatchback and has 160HP. The thing is, the car is a 2 door coupe (non-hatchback) and is only 127HP.

What gives?? Thanks for any help.

The USA version is called an Si while it's an SiR here.

If you need brakes pads & shoes for a STOCK honda either go to the dealership or your local tech you can trust.

thanks guys. I had no idea Honda would switch the cars around like that when bringing them to Canada.

I was going to replace the pads with Hawk HPS pads from a guy I know but he thought the Si use 4 wheel disc brake also.

my gf's father removed the rear wheel to have a closer look to confirm that there are no brake pads in the rear. I was just confused about all the info I was seeing on the web..

I know the EG models however do have the 4 disc brakes in the Si. I don't know why they switched back to the drums? Drum brakes look crappy.
