Older version of my car. I'm very happy with it. SUPER reliable. I think the 6th gens are the best looking Civics too. Plenty of mods available. Swaps are easier. Most SIR parts bolt right on for cheap OEM upgrades.
D16Y8 engine. 127-hp at 6,600 rpm. Torque rated at 106 lbs-ft at 5,200 rpm. Front disc/rear drum. Power moonroof, power mirrors/windows/door locks, AM/FM stereo, cruise control, tilt steering and dual airbags. ABS and A/C were options with the G package.

My car has 155,000k's on it with no problems at all. The syncros in the tranny were replaced under warranty because the gears were grinding sometimes. Everything else has been perfect. Check this page for all kinds of info. http://auto.consumerguide.com/auto/u...ex.cfm/id/2172

The front end is slightly different and the HVAC inside are different, but otherwise the 96-98 and 99-00 are the same. There was a thread in the exterior forum on the outside difference. The pic above is from a 96-98.

The interior of the 99-00 coupes is slightly different from the 96-98's as well ie. layout of the heater controls and radio placement.
Exterior differences include the red/white tail lights and a different front bumper.
I don't know if $7,000 for a 2000 Civic SE coupe is any good, but definitely go for an Si. The SE is kinda the no frills version of the coupe and it came with the 106hp engine.
