I have an extra 5 liters over you but I do several hundred kilometers more than previous gens... now you can redo the math and let me know what it turns out to be.

I am laughing if I can get 300 km out of 50 litres.....in my "other" car. Usually I get about 250 km.... 5.7 litres (not per 100 km, that's the displacement of the engine....)
In my Civic, I get about 450 km in the Winter. Lately I have been getting about 500 km even using A/C. This is a 6th gen with a B16. My mileage gets better every year. Heck my car is barely broken in. I have 43,000 km on it. When it was new, the fuel light came on before 400 km. Generally when Honda's are new, their fuel consumption is not that great. They usually get better after 15,000 km.
B,
Your car has a 45 litre tank. I guess you fill it up before the light goes on.
Nova,
Civics don't have a reserve tank. Some of the fuel can go up the filler pipe. I once put in 46 litres in my 45 litre tank (in Winter).... Actually, if you look at the pumps, the volume is corrected to 15 C. What does that mean? In Winter, the fuel is more concentrated (the molecules are closer together at colder temperatures.) so, it is possible to get more than what your tank capacity is but you are actually putting in less (in actual volume)....Does that make sense?
NoS,
Your tank is "rated" at 50 litres, however, because it is blow molded plastic, there is a lot of variation unlike steel tanks. 7th Gen is the first Civics to use plastic tanks... It is possible that your tank can hold more.
I hope everyone is measuring their fuel economy by:
- Fill up at a certain gas pump
- Let it "click" a certain amount of time, (say 3 clicks)
- Reset your trip meter to "0"
- Drive a certain distance noting driving style and usage (A/C etc)
- Go back to the exact same pump
- Let it "click" the same number of time (3 times if you used that from above)
- Divide the number of km travelled by the amount of fuel you put in (look at reciept).
Note: if you have bigger wheels/tires, you need to add a correction factor to your odometer reading. What is that correction factor? It depends on how big your tires are compared to stock.
If you don't measure fuel economy in this way, I would say that there are too many variables that would be questionable and thus, your calculations would not be considered accurate.
I would be curious how different your calculations would be measuring fuel economy in this way....

I think that my Civic hovers at about 2750rpm's when going 100km/h... not as high as some of you, but higher than I'd like!!
Don't idle your car either! Not only does it kill your fuel economy by wasting fuel like there's no tomorrow, but it's also bad for the environment!

Welp, I have a '95 Coupe with a DX tranny.
I can romp up to my parents' place in Timmins(about 7 hours) at about 130-140kmh on about $30 of 92 octane.
Even with a Wings West big mout front end scooping the wind...
