tire question
hey everyone!
i just picked up a set of 16" rims and the tires are 205/50Z R16 but i feel that if i lower my ek just an inch the tires will rub. would i have to change the tires and get low pro's ?! thanks alot |
Get a camber kit. thats what i would do. 50's are more comfortable than 40's or 45's. you dont feel every rock on the road...plus....they look sick
|
really ?! thanks alot bro

You will be fine. And for 1" drop you don't need a camber kit.

i got 205/55/16, i am dropped almost and inch all around. im not even close to rubbing or bottoming out.
you're gonna be running 205/50/16's. (same set-up, less rubber) you should have no issues. |
im dropped 2" on 17s with 205/45/r17....It will rub on the front fenders when i corner hard.

are your fenders rolled ??
Planning on doing that when i have the body refinnished. So far it hasn't done any damage since i don't drive it like a stole it. :P |
205/40/15's on my EG. Dropped 2.5" on H&R race springs. Never rubbed or bottomed out. But I rocking a camber kit otherwise I would be rubbing all day.
|
true...my next setup will be 205/50/17 so im just asking around...i dont feel like getting a camber kit...i would roll thee fenders tho.

I roll one as my DD and if your suspension is stock the 17's will fill the wheel gap up nice. If your only dropping 1" you won't even need a camber kit just get an alignment and call it a day. |
Yeah man, i was thinking that for the EP. im a little dropped all around. i want it to look like theres almost no gap. thx for the advice btw.
p.s. how do u like the car? Cuz some ppl love it some hate it. |
it shouldnt rub.
i got an eg, im lowered F1.8/R1.9 and i have 15's with 60 profile tires. today i picked up 16's with 45profile, i put one rim on another, and my 15's are bigger lol. so that stated, i had no rubbing with my 15's and im yet to find out how 16s will sit, but im 100% that they will not rub. |

You might want to go a little lower profile just to keep the tire diameter the same as stock size. This way your car won't be slower and your speedometer won't read slower than you're actually going because your tire is too tall.
205/50 might be a bit taller than stock size. I run 205/50R15 on my civic and thats very close to stock diameter, so 205/50R16 may be a bit tall. I'd suggest 205/45 or 215/40 for your application. Also, as long as you keep the tire diameter close to stock, and don't go crazy on the width, you should be fine with a 1" drop. cheers. |
