ive got 17's, but everyone will tell you tahts too big. For a more comfortable ride, get a 15 or 16" rim.

Not just comfort. Rim weight/size matters for performance. 15" looks the best really. Using a tire calculator would be the smartest way to go about sizing tires so your speedo would read properly.
I'm on 195/50r15 and it looks/handles/pulls nice. Going any bigger than 16 would not be the best idea.

50 isn't the width.

Looking at tires sizes, for example a 195/50R15:

The first number (195) is the width. The second number (50) is the side wall height. The 3rd and last number (15) is the rim size.

15" is a perfect size for any civic. There is no need to go any bigger. Plus the cost difference to buy tires for a 15" rims vs a 16" rim is significant. The bigger the rim, the more expensive the tires will be.

Since your car is lowered I don't recommend you go any wider than 195. As long as you use a good quality tire, you'll have lots of grip.

16 looks better, that's why i'm doing it... plus that's what all the cool kids do

jokes.

what u gotta keep in mind is the bigger the rim the heavier it will be... that's gonna affect your performance, and also it'll be harder to stop... upgrade the brakes if you're gonna go 17. also choose wisely cuz some 17" rims on civics looks really stupid and some look mint. there's like no middle ground there that i've seen

215/45r15 would be almost perfect fit. though i hope you are aware that you will need a 15x7 rim? i wouldn't mount a 215 tire on a 6.5" rim.

I recently went from a 205/50r15, falken rt-615 up @$370/set from tires23, up to a 205.45r16. For the same tr-615's from the same shop - $610. I moved before I could even save up the coin to get new tires and now I'm running on used skins that suck a$$, should have stayed with 15's

I had 17's the first time I put rims on my hatch years ago, really nice Enkie Evo 5's. I felt they looked great, my car was barely lowered at all so they filled up the wheel wells nicely, but they were so heavy my car was slower then ever and braking sucked big time. I almost crashed twice in the first weekend with them. Sold them quick and bought my first of 3 sets of rotas I've owned and after going up to a 16, I wanna go back to 15's next.

also you can do a 205 or even 215, but you'll need to do things like roll/pull your fenders. 215's you may need spacers, extended studs/lugs depending on your offset or you could rub on the inner side of the wheel also, not sure here, I never tried a 215 yet. I want to, just never had a 7" wide rim till I bought my 16's. they were used, and came with 205's and my wallets been drained ever since from school and a move across the country combined with the fact I haven't worked in monthsm I don't even wanna know what a good 215 width tire for a 16 goes for.

my suggestion. 195/55r15 or 205/50r15. DD, 195's are cheaper and a good tire will work nicely, if you want a little more, 205's but you'll prolly rub and need to address that issue quickly or ruin a perfectly good set of tires.

most auto Xer's use 205/50r15 I believe. unless your putting down some serious power I think a 215 is overkill. that and you will really need to do more mods to run them. even with my fenders pulled and tucked, 205's rub partly because I'm tucking in the front, they only rub at full lock and also my 16's are a bigger OD then 15's but still a 215 might rub inner wall, which means spacers, and that means closer to the outer and then you'll need to either be less low, cut fenders or really pull/roll them (might work) really I think 205 is more then enough if you have good tires and a good alignment. I have a really good suspension set up too which of course helps but I can throw my car hard into any corner hard and fast with more then enough grip. you really want handling, a good set of coil overs, set up properly, sway bars are debatable because if your suspensions hard enough you don't need them, for a street car they are nice cause they give you a firmer corner feel with a softer bump feel but pure track and a good hard spring rate will prevent body roll anyway. if you have a hatch I can't say enough for how much a "c" pillar bar improved my cars steering response. I have a nice upper strut bar, H brace under the front, a rear sub frame brace to allow a thick rear sway bar to be added to a car that never had one and a thicker front as well, and an upper strut bar in the rear as well, none of these did anything near as much as the "c" pillar bar did for my hatch. coupes and sedans, the rear window is a part of the shell and the body also goes between the window and trunk, a hatch the window and hatch are a real big flex point as they don't really attach to the car enough to really support anything. If I open my hatch then jack the front end up on one side the hatch won't even close with out forcing it or putting the car back down. A miracle X bar does way more but eats up a lot of trunk space.

Basically tire size regardless, your gonna want good suspension, adding in a few other strut bars can be cheap, but don't cheap out too much here either. generic no name bars have weak flex points and do nothing more then add weight to the car.

Lastly, have you priced out 215/45r15's? and 205/50r15's? what's the difference work out to per set?
