get your facts straight before trying any car.

dc2 is chassy code.
so technically its an integra type r and honda integra dc2 is only available oversea's.
heheh, he's prolly 15 and won't have enough money saved up in 3 years for a 92 civic let alone a Type R........ I was thinking about financing a type R, and even an S2000......Making 18,000 a year as a student still wouldn't be a realistic amount to pay for the car+insurance which would be killer.....and gas, and obviously regular expenses............

my two words I have to say are

You Won't

I think the Honda DC2 and its counterpart in America, the Acura Integra TypeR, are quite different.

The weight in the japanese models was distributed nearly perfectly at all 4 corners with driver. The trunk came stripped, there was no AC (not sure if Acura had AC), different interior parts, different engine...

The Japanese DC2 is geared directly towards racing. The 'R' has more of a meaning than it does on our models.

But, for the sake of this arguement, they are the same car.

There are some major differences between the JDM cars and their North American counterparts.

Ya, they're virtually identical in some ways, but sometimes not.

Consider the USDM ITR is made in Japan (along with GSR and others), the quality is there.

Let's lay it out.

The US Market featured a 2/4dr RS, LS, GS model, 2/4dr GSR Model and a 2dr Type-R Model.
The Japanese Market featured all of the above as well as a 4dr Type-R. (The GSR was called the Si/G in Japan) Japanese market also featured a 4WD Integra known as the Integra XSi.

Exterior: The USDM ITR had optional AC from 96-99. I believe it came standard on the 00-01 Models. A Rear wiper was featured in 00-01 as well.
Japanese models featured the infamous 'JDM Frontend' with the 1-piece headlights with optional HID's.

Engine: The USDM featured a B18C5 engine whereas the JDM model had the B18C3 and the B18C5, but were were both stamped the B18C. Power ranged from 195-200hp depending on the year.

Chassis: Chassis was pretty much the same. I can't think of any differences at this moment. Chassis codes are as follow: DC4 = 2dr NON-VTEC coupes, DC2 = 2dr VTEC Coupes (Including Type-R) DB7 = 4dr NON-VTEC Sedans, DB8 = 4dr VTEC Sedans (Including Type-R)

Wheel/Suspension: The 98+ JDM ITR's had 16" rims whereas the USDM ITR's had 15's. Shock/Spring combo was the same.

96-97 ITR's in both the USDM and JDM models featured a 4x114.3 bolt pattern and was changed to 5-lug in the 98-01 models.

Interior: JDM models featured Recaro Seats, MOMO steering wheel (SRS & Non-SRS were available), Armrest delete console, Carbon Fiber gauge cluster with yellow needles & the coupe did not have the crack tray in the middle of the rear seats.

USDM Models featured non-Recaro seats, but similar upholstery, Armrest console with ITR plaque, Regular Red/Black gauge cluster and standard Acura SRS steering wheel.

That's all i can think of while in class right now. Please ask my anything else if you guys need.

That's a pretty good break down. I certainly didn't know there was a XSi.

The ITRs in Japan had a stripped trunk and were corner balanced to near perfect weight distribution.

Final Drive is different between the two years. All JDM ITR engines have hand polished ports (not sure if the USDMs were)

There's a trunk bar in the JDM ITRs

I have a Best motoring video that covers the history of TypeR in Japan and goes through all the cool stuff about every TypeR Honda.

It shows the ITR beating a Silvia S14 Turbo in a 1/4 mile, also. Heck, the ITR won in the 2.0L Turbo class at Tsukuba. Beat MR2, Silvia, Impreza, Celica, RX7, etc...

I believe USDM ITR has 4.4 FD, and JDM has 4.785 FD.

whoops, i forgot about the Final Drive.

USDM ITR's also have the Trunk bars. At least the CDM ones did.

And yes, the USDM ITR motors were also hand polished.

I wonder if the USDM ITRs have the same weight distribution due to the LHD.

That would be good to know. Keep me informed if you ever find out please. I'll do the same.

I will. The Best Motoring video that I mentioned above has a segment with the JDM ITR on the scales and its near perfect with a driver. Although, it's a japanese driver who weighs around 130lbs...

It is my understanding that the ITR chassis differed from the DC2 chassis(2 DR VTEC coupe) by having thicker metal in the rear subframe area to eliminate the possibility of subframe tearing due to the larger diameter rear sway bar. Short of that I believe you guys have it covered.

I think it was only the ITR since it had the 22mm sway bar.

Is DC2 the code for all Integras or just the JDM ITR?

CTR also has reinforced rear subframe. A little off topic.

The ITR had a 22mm Sway bar from 96-97 then was upgraded to a 23mm in 98-01.

The DC2 chassis code was for all VTEC Equipped coupes. DC4 was for NON-VTEC coupes.

As for the chassis, the ITR is reinforced in many places. I have a diagram that shows all of the places that it is reinforced, but it was on my laptop hard drive which died like two weeks ago.

I'll see if I can still have it on my other comp and then post it up.

Cheers

Got it!

Those are the major structural difference.
