Hey guys, i did a motor swap in my 98 EK Hatch about 4 months ago to a JDM Si Vtec (D16y8). I converted from OBD2 to OBD1 and have a USDM Si ECU hooked up.

My problem is that i was driving the other day and out of know where a code was thrown, so i checked it and it came up as Code 15- Ignition Output Signal. WHAT THE HELL IS THAT? The car still runs absolutely fine but is still throwing that code. ANY IDEA'S? I've disconnected the battery and re-connected it and still lye's that dam Code. If anyone has any idea's please let me know thank you. PM me if you can?

scrap the ecu conversion and get a d16y8 ecu... OBD2 motor car and Ecu = no problems

Hey Reg, did you figure out a way around this problem?

The OBD2 distributors don't have the sensor for the ignition output (the extra 2-wire plug from OBD1 distributors). I'm wondering if it's possible to retrofit this sensor in to the OBD2 distributor.

It's purpose is to detect misfires but newer obd2 engies have a crank fluctuation sensor (located by the crank pulley) that does the same thing but works differently.

well, that only took 30 min to figure out.

I just swapped the two wires for the Ignition Output from my obd1 dist in to my obd2 dist.

(I'm running a D16Y8 motor/head/dist in my EG)
