Ebay turbo kits?
I've been looking into getting a turbo kit. If someone could list some brands I could price them out online, that would be great. Also was wondering if anyone knew a reputable shop that could install it. Not looking to run a lot of boost.

CIVIC CRX DEL SOL INTEGRA B16/B18 T3/T4 TURBO KIT 18PCS on eBay.ca (item 110650537679 end time 24-Feb-11 14:02:44 EST) Would it be a bad choice to buy a ebay turbo kit?

most people will tell you to stay away from cheap ebay turbo kits, yet many people have ebay kits and are fine its a 50/50 thing i guess.
BUT the good old sayin stays true.....CHEAP, FAST,RELIABLE now you can only pick 2.

This topic has been covered many times over on this site alone. Just do a search.
Basically you first need to determine a budget and then think about a power goal in relation to that budget. Be realistic. Don't pick a "boost level" like most people do. Once you decide how much hp you want to make, the size/type of turbo as well as all other necessary components should be selected to safely achive that power goal. Once you have everything collected, it should all be installed, setup and tuned by a reputable, knowledgeable person/shop that specializes in modifying/tuning hondas. Don't take it to your local midas and have them install it...lol.
You don't necessarily need to buy the most expensive parts, but you should use high-quality parts. Not all, but many parts you buy off ebay are lacking in the quality department, so be VERY careful what you buy off ebay. Personally, I wouldn't buy anything for my turbo build off ebay. I certainly wouldn't buy an entire turbo kit off ebay. Many people who have bought ebay kits, you'll notice will most likely have replaced several parts (some times key parts, like the actual turbo itself) usually durning installation when they find a part is either broken or doesn't fit. This is where having someone who really knows what they're doing working on the installation is extremely important in building a reliable setup.
Tuning is key. This is what makes a good reliable fast setup. The car absolutely MUST be tuned properly. So set aside at least $400+ for that alone.
Research research research!!!! Learn as much as you can and make sure you know what you're buying is what you need and is of good quality. Any setup is only as strong/reliable as the weakest/cheapest part.

If you do go ebay, one really big piece of advice,
MAKE SURE YOU PRIME THE TURBO BEFORE EVER RUNNING IT.
Look up ways to do this properly. I'm sure that most ebay turbos fail becuase the are run dry for those first fwe seconds untill enough oil pressure makes it's way to the turbo and these motors are not turbo from factory so really the oil routing is whatever works, not whats best and it could take a bit for oil to make it's way through.
other parts like the charge pipping and NON moving parts, Ebay is just fine but if you cheap out on the turbo and then it detonates and all the parts get sucked into your engine... NO GOOD. This also goes for the BOV.
Really you should play it safe and either piece together a kit or look into a complete Eddlebrock or Greddy kit, or something to that effect. You can allways swap in other parts later to make the kit better.

Be prepared to replace the blow-off valve and wastegate immediately bc 90% of the ebay or no-name ones either dont work right out of the box or fail very quickly.
Id recommend at least getting the Go-autoworks street kit. Its a decent kit or a reasonable price.
Ebay kits are absolute JUNK in my opinion.

Godspeed is crap, even their S-chassis stuff took years to come out correct. Its all out sourced.
At least go with a CX racing kit who do R&D on their new stuff, depending where you are I can help you get a kit.
