300whp stay D or go B?
My goal is 300whp in a fully gutted EH2 and my question is should I stay D or go B for 300whp.
I have a clean JDM D15B Vtec and shes running great, the plan was to build the bottom end with the Turbo Superkit COMBO for the JDM D15B from FJ Distributors and buy the turbo kit from Goautoworks with a full 3" exhaust.
I already have the JDM D15B, as for the B series I would have to buy that and all the parts. which would be best for my goal?
Thanks

Just build and stick with the D motor. You'll spend way more on swapping in a B and B transmission for the same result. Only difference is a B motor will make a bit more torque due to larger displacement. (b16 not so much).
Sounds like an interesting build. When you get the project off the ground, start a build thread with pics!

Turbo D. The money you gonna spend on swapping engines will be about the same, and then you don't even know if the transmission is any good and condition of the engine.
Moreover a B series would be on its limit if not beyond what should be considered safe. Where as a built d series is gonna be just fine
Plus how many people have turbo d compared to turbo b...they are going extinct.

Thanks that was my plan but after visiting other honda sites, I started to question myself because its hard to find soild no BS help on the JDM D15B vtec since everyone wants a B or K.
Even at D series.org its a little hard to get help
Thanks again

internals, you may want help, if it's your first time to the rodeo you don't wanna learn on the motor your gonna use. Also if your gonna build it doesn't really matter that your engine runs great as you'll be changing rings and bearings when you change pistons and rods. Building a motor isn't that hard really but it is something that does require practice, patients and above all attention to detail. You really wanna make sure things are within spec and know all the different places specs need to be checked.
Building and tuning are 2 parts of the build that you may want to leave to a pro if you haven't any real experience. You could however since your staying D (which I am also recommending you do, and I'm also doing myself) buy a used D series. 15b vtec or z6 or whatever, even a y8, and use it to build yourself and keep the known good motor you have in case it pops. Also if you can find a good z6 block you could also get axles from a ZC and use the half shaft for reduced torque steer. At 300 this maybe an issue you'll wanna deal with. I thing the gains from the z6 block other then that are if you were staying stock internals or pistons at least the z6 is lower compression compared to your 15b, but this is another advantage to staying D series is that if you do blow a motor getting another to replace it is way cheaper then a b series.
Putting the turbo components on is really not a big deal, the hard part really is making sure you get the oil lines installed properly so you don't have any leaks and also that the return line is installed properly. You don't want to have the return line bent to sharp as to cause a restriction, it's only gravity working on the return side so you also need to make sure the return dumps into the pan high enough that the oil in the pan doesn't prevent it from coming in, but also you don't want it too high or the oil will go right at the crank and piston rods and get splashed around too much and foam up causing other problems with oil starvation and so on. That and the actual install of a bung for the return line does require a good weld. Don't forget to clean and dry the pan real well before you start to weld!
D-series can be a good site if yo know who to listen to for advice there. Lotta good guys who know what they're talking about. Lotta n00bs who thing they do. Also try turbod16.com several strong build there and good vendors section too for guys like us looking to build a D series. Look up Danz on d-series and maybe turbod16 or Vancouver civics, he has at least 3, 10 second d series cars, I think he knows what he's talking about. Also on here and turbod16 and d series I believe Fr0z3n had build threads about his 400+ hp d series tuned by High Velovity's Zeeman before HV was started.
Another build to inspire... This thread really shows just what a D series can do.

Xscorpio, buy my CRX MPR will be putting it together for me lol.
Believe it, or not, I support the Built D Series engine. ( :O I know right! )
Build that D series, and boost the BuhJesus out of it!
