Is it a constant sound, or just when you are changing gears? When was the last time the tranny fluid was changed?

the sound is constant when im driving in the gear, but goes silent between switching of gears. I think i changed my fluid 9 months ago,but got it checked at jiffy lube about 4 months ago and they said it was good.so the sound is constant when im driving in the gears

thats what i had on my old 03 civic. I would take it to honda RIGHT AWAY. it cost me about 600 bucks to get mine done at honda. The whole trans needs to be ripped apart to get at the bearing apperantly.

yes its your release bearing, noisy when pedal released and quite when pedal pushed in, bring it to kitchener and i'll change it for $300, 3 hours and you'll drive away happy as can be.

OP while parked, does it make the noise? Now while still parked what happens when you push down on the clutch pedal.

It could be either release bearing or input shaft bearing.
If its input shaft bearing, might aswell just buy another transmission if its a d-series. If its the clutch relese/throw out bearing then it would be a good idea to change the clutch at the same time too.

I took it to the mechanic today, he was swearing the whole time he was driving it
He said i need to buy a used tranny, more cost effective, and hes gonna charge me $300 for labor? Is that a good price,to me it sounds decent. Thinking of going with japan auto.

Thanks for all your help guys

if tranny comes of you may aswell do the clutch at the same time.
also 300 for labour seems decent.

300 is a good price for pulling off and putting it back on.

$150 picked up, cam out of a 98 SI that had less then 100***kms
grandma owned it, never drove it

Doubt it. I see ads for civics with b16's/ls-vtec/d-series boost all the time owned by grandma's. Seems legit. Only thing is, I wish my grandma had a civic...
