is ur engine light on though? if iots ur VSS the engine light would come on. If its acting wacky and no engine light, chances are its ur actual speedo mechanism

Variable Speed Sensor.
Although all B series look different, all the VSS' for Hydro Tranys are the same. The B16A1 (y1,s1, or YS1) is different though.
VSS errors throw a CEL (Check engine Light), and will not allow VTEC to kick in once CEL is on. Symptoms: Speedo will start to wobbly, like a fat person doing push-ups. Until it eventually fails completely. Can take a few minutes (10 or so) after the car is running for this to occur, can also be instant.
For B series Hydro trannys, it's one bolt (10mm I believe) holding VSS to the tranny.

I have been dealing with a VSS problem for 2 years. I finally cut the plug the vss goes too, and re-wired (jerry rigged) and sealed it wil very tight layers of electrical tape. Works better than ever... wouldn't recommend it off the hop.

Try cleaning your VSS plug connecters... Viniger to eat Oxidization away, then coat them again. Or a Simple Brake clean, then compressed air the rest out. ( Of The Connectors, not the Transmission, or the VSS itself! )

Good Luck!
