tranny question
Hey everyone.
I just bought my first honda finally, after months of researching and searching for the right car. I've officially joined the honda club. Two quick questions though. After finding a car with a mint body, mint suspension and mint interior, I had my mechanic who's driven standard all his life test drive it.
He said the clutch has obviously been replaced sometime recently, it drives very well and very smooth. Said it'll last me YEARS. Only thing is he said it felt like it needed to have the shifter bushings replaced. He said when you throw the gear shift to the left to shift into first or second, it goes over too far.
I called the transmission place we use for all our family vehicles and the issue I described sounded to the mechanic like I needed the shifter rod replaced.
Here's my questions. I plan on installing a short shifter kit asap. If it's the bushings, I need to replace them and then install the kit, correct? (I.E. the short shifter wont have any aftermarket bushings coming with it that I need to replace the stock ones with).
If it's the shifter rod that he's talking about, is that part part of a shortshifter kit?
And lastly, what are the good short shift kits for a 99 civic si (2dr coupe if that matters) and where can I pick one up in Scarborough (other than p-mall...)

I know they're not that expensive, money isn't an issue. I'd rather get quality then run into issues later. But I've heard things like single bend, double bend, one piece, two piece. What's better?
And I've heard a lot of people talk about these energy suspension shifter stabilizer bushings before. Are they considered one of the best?
Thanks

bumping this. making appointments this week. need to know what parts I'll need. Mainly, what is the shifter rod and is it part of the short shift kit or do I need to get one seperately?
