tranny keeps blowing

I have a 93 hatch with a d thats turbo ed and the tranny keeps blowing does anyone know somewhere to buy a built tranny or kno somewhere who builds them cheap or even kno of something else i can do other then rebuild it that can make it last more then a month thanks.

RDub 25-Aug-2008 12:49 PM

is it manual or auto?

Jrod 25-Aug-2008 02:07 PM

manual

Jones04 25-Aug-2008 02:13 PM

do you have a stock transmission with your turbo? your transmission may not be able to hold that much stress.

Nova_Dust 25-Aug-2008 02:43 PM

Transmission rebuild is never cheap. What I would do is replace the clutch with a Stage 1 or 2 and learn to do double clutch shifting to relief the stress on the synchros.

Parts will only last if you treat it well.

i have a stage 3 clutch and i know its not able to hold that much stress but there must be something else i can do

How much HP are you making??
What is your redline set at??
D trannys hate shifting over 8000.......and a stock tranny should hold up to quite a bit of HP.

Could you be leaking transmission oil? Causing bearings inside the transmission to blow?
If so check if drive shaft is sitting in proprelly. Also I got a transmission from tiger Japanese for 220 and after 2 months of minor abuse its perfect.

was the flywheel shaved? could it be out of balance?

Input bearings are really weak on the D-series trans what blows?

syncros? bearings? leaks?
