tranny exploded?

hey guys

so i took my car to abstrakt because i needed to replace my tranny.. heres the story

so a couple weeks ago i noticed 5th gear was popping out but didnt mind because the syncros was going to be replaced

now a couple days ago there was a harsh sound coming from my tranny but only in neutral or 1st gear and it'd fade away on 2nd and itd go away if i clutched in

anyways so i was going to take it to the mech to be replaced but when i was driving home one day i was in third and clutched in to go to fourth but the gear sort of.. popped itself into fourth?

anyways after that happened i let off my clutch and it felt and sounded like my tranny fell out

once abstrakt too a look at it they said my 3-4 syncro and 4-5 syncro was popped out completely and the gears were teethless

my pressure plate was damaged and my fly wheel needs to be machined

he was being polite but he basically said "you fcuked up your tranny" my question is how?

i granny shift constantly i try not to burn my clutch too much and i RARELY accelerate to 7000 rpm and shift the only thing ive been doing lately is practice heel toe downshifting so could this be caused by over-revving?

im just trying to figure out if i need to change my style of driving

Heel toe should not damage it like that, I do it every day, but I am also hard on my engine/tranny.

Grinding gears, lack of fluid, being hard on it, old age, lots of km's.

PS - I posted in your WTB thread.

did you replace the fluid or did you take it somewhere ?

did you check the fluid level when you first started having tranny issues?

could have been a tooth falling inbetween the gears and caught them. If third was going maybe it finally went and took everything else with it.

third only grinded..slightly but fourth was fine and the biggest issue i felt was 5th gear popping out

Without big amount of increased horsepower or a leak that caused the fluid to leak I really don't see how the OP could have 'caused' this.

That's my friend's tranny. It literally blew up. A retaining pin located inside the tranny got loose, and fell off. When it hit the gears, this was the result.

Usually when it keeps popping out of fifth that is telling you that it is low on transmission fluid...
