Slow Automatic Transmission

I recently bought a 03 Acura EL at 230k. The seller told me the transmission was in rough shape but I couldn't say no to the price. While accelerating the car goes through the gears slower than it should and takes too long to grab the gear. It's like driving standard without taking your foot off the gas. Is there a possible (inexpensive) fix for this or is it just going to eventually die?

If it were to die, would it be cheaper to replace the automatic transmission, or swap it for a manual transmission. I've driven both and have no preference, would just prefer to save money.

Finally, while going 110kmh it revs just over 3000rpms. To me that seems high, is it?

Thanks in advance!

its likely the torque converter clutch solenoid getting stuck. Sometimes a tranny flush will fix it, best bet is to replace it and flush the tranny, as well as changing the filter at the same time. Im sure others will chime in with other suggestions

Flushing the tranny:
Run it till it's warm, empty, refill with clean fluid. Drive for a week and repeat.

honda Auto trannys suck. Having major troubles with the wifes Integra. to the point were I wouldn't drive her car, cuz it's so annoying. If the flushing doesn't fix the problem, you're looking at a new transmission.

Since it's not throwing a CEL, it's most likely not your Clutch Pack/Solenoids.

Swapping to a standard is a lot of work/money. Automatic transmission are relatively cheap. Only problem is the supply and demand is low, so tracking one down might be tricky.

The EL is a B17? or B16? I don't recall. Hopefully a B Series auto will fit, torontoJDM stocks them. But wait till I buy mine... Cause we need it more :P
