S20 tranny
 

I was told that the S20 tranny would be the best for my d motor.
I know it's an si tranny. Is there any particular year to get? 92-00?
89-00?

88-91 are cable clutch tranny's and no good to you. you wanna get a 92+. that said the newer the better. if you can find a jdm one it's possible to get one with a LSD, really rare but I got one for my EG I'm sure you could find one. I say you should look for someone swapping out a d16y8 from a 99-00 si and drive it first if possible. if you buy a used w/o a warranty you could get burned on the tranny and the labour to put it in isn't gonna be cheap.

They are all S20... dont go by that code.. you are looking for either a B000 or a A000 I forget which is SI and which Dx/Cx

And yes I bought a Si tranny and they are geared toward performance in comparison to the dx/cx

I've had both a000 and b000 and trust me, the shorter gear one is much nicer. Lol and yeah I don't remember which one is which either.

Does anyone know if the s40 is better than the s20 and which has the shorter gears a000 or b000?
