Import transmission
Hello. Small intro. In the past year I had a bunch of car issues. My trusty audi 90 quattro fuel lines rusted at 380k. It was time to let it go. I got a free jimmy with a broken transmission. I swapped the transmission, but the jimmy was the worst decision of my life. The car sucks in every possible way... especially fuel. I have to get rid of it ASAP.
A friend of mine is leaving the country. He offered me his 03 Civic for a very reasonable price. Unfortunately it has a CV joint like clicking on the passenger side while accelerating in 2nd and 3rd gear. I don't think its the throwout or input shaft bearings. Mechanic that did the safety said it's the differentiall. I searched a bunch of forums for info on differential noise and I couldn't find much info about it. Everyone seems to have throwout or input shaft bearing problems. Mechanic said it's not really a big issue. Anyone have some insight in to this issue? Worst case scenario, the transmission rebuild is quite expensive. If there's one thing I wont touch myself is car transmissions. I think an import transmission would be the best replacement, right? SO MY MAIN QUESTION IS, how much are JDM import transmissions going for? I called a few places and they seem to be ~$500. Are those good? |
