huge problem with tranny...leak
hi, so last friday i got ol Dusty to throw in my new clutch/flywheel and the tranny i got from civicEJ1 and now its leakin tranny oil from somewhere. got dusty to check it out..and he said that the drive shaft is moving around a bit. now another guy told me it could be the seal since it did not get replaced. any ideas/?? and can you tell if a seal will hold just by lookin at it..or should i just replace it anyways? got few pics and i circled where i see all the oil coming from. srr i took the pics tonight with ma phone..so not the greatest quality.
and pleaseee if anybody could help me out i would greatly appreciate it. thanks

Good advice.
Axle seal leaks can be sometimes stubborn to source down.. they fling oil everywhere. If its a really bad leak, you can clean it dry and start the car and you'll see it start dripping from the seal.

oki well it stopped raining and i sprayed some brake cleaner and whiped off all the dirt and oil, drove around for 10-15mins or so and thats what i got. im almoust sure that its the seal. the only thing that is still bothering me is that the driveshaft "jiggles" a bit. nothing major but when i put some force into it, it moves a tiny bit. not sure if its suppost to be like that or will a seal correct that at all? dusty said its either the driveshaft locking clip or inside the tranny? so yeah i guess my question would be can the driveshaft move a tiny bit or you are not suppost to make it move around at ALL?
btw there is a pic you can see a line of oil after a quick drive.

it still moves a tiny notch, but with the replaced seal it helped a bit. if i put all my strenght into it (btw im not a strong guy) i can move it a tiny bit, the mechanic said its fine, and not to worry about it. so i guess thats all over now. gonna do my rear brakes soon...its gonna be a fun packed day
