Hey guys... Thanks in Advance

Vehicle Spec: 2000 Honda Civic (4 Door) Auto 1.6L - 283,000km

For the last little while I've noticed a grinding noise coming from underneath the car, I think this problem is occurring from the transmission, I say this because the odd time when idling it will grind, but for the most part it grinds when the car is being accelerated.

IE. When first taking off I'll hear it, but also when the car is automatically shifting gears from 1-2 & 2-3 I hear it again.. after the shift is complete the sound disappears.

I was hoping someone might have some advice on what I may need to fix/check/replace.

Could it be the sound if sheet metal rattling?

it could be a heatshield

Possible I guess... but doubtful in my opinion as the grinding has a constant rhythym, never straying.

Deadstop = grind (sometimes)
Deadstop + acceleration = grind
1st to 2nd = grind
2nd to 3rd = grind
3rd to 4th = grind


Also it's got a rotational sound to it... believe me when I tell you that without error, every time the car is automatically shifting, the grinding occurs, once the shift is completed the sound disappears with it.
