fifth gear?

Hey everyone,
In my plans for my B16A swap, I plan to swap out the fifth gear in the B16 tranny for an integra LS fifth gear. I've been told my multiple people that it'll give me better gas mileage, especially if I plan to do highway driving (which I do).

My question is where do people find these? Do most go to junkyards, or torontojdm or right to an acura dealership and order one new?

Thanks everyone.

if all you need is a 5th gear off an LS tranny, just grab a whole one off a forum. there are tons of those things floating around, usually for $200 or less.

I suppose they're an option, but would they be any cheaper than calling an acura dealership and getting one new?

For that much money, I might as well call a dealership and just get the part I need. Save myself the hassle of dragging around the heavy, huge *** tranny and taking it apart just to get the fifth gear. Or worse, paying someone else to do it!

Call around to shops and wreckers...you can find that 5th gear for $50 or less in good condition...inspect it first.

While you got your motor on the stand, do a stage 1 clutch and lightened flywheel....cheap cheap cheap...youll love it.

Call around to what shops? Junk yard are easy to find, but call what shops?

As for the clutch and flywheel. I'm up the air. I want to do them while my engine and tranny are out of the car, but I don't know what I'll be able to afford. A lightened flywheel and stage 1 exedy clutch are not cheap.... Define cheap?

I'm up in the air between a stage one clutch, or just replacing the one I get with a brand new stock honda clutch..

a st.1 should cost around the same as a OEM one and look into getting your flywheel lightened vs buying a lighter one.

naww...stage 1 is like double that of OEM replacement (if you go with exedy)

if its some crappy ebay brand, then everything is $100! lolz

and why lighten existing flywheel? get a 9lb one and learn to rev match!
OP rides a bike so he should already know how to do that.
