Clutch Question

Ok, I just swapped my d16y7 in my 96 hatch for a jdm D15b, and switched the clutch in the process. The clutch i got was OEM specs, but it is a looooot lighter than my old clutch. Is that just because of the pressure plate?

I took the car for a "spirited" drive after the swap was done (wanted to feel the vtec pop) and while doing so I smelt something burning. Is that just the clutch breaking in?

Also, the clutch is rough when downshifting, even when shifting at higher RPM's. Will that eventually go away after I drive for a thousand km's or so?

Personally, i put a new stage 1 clutch and lightweight flywheel into my motor and i let it work in for 1500km just because i want to be carfull. and when you put a new clutch in i would recommend that you get the flywheel resurfaced because its probably pretty smooth right now and the clutch cant grab on. hope this helps.

it just burned a bit, dont worry, still have a ton of meat left on it. just take it easy for a bit, let it work in and then go pop vtec all day long..

ya it's starting to get much better, I didn't have the flywheel resurfaced when I swapped it tho, does it really make a huge difference?
