You mean integra type R or civic type R? Either way, yes they will both work. The difference is in the bend of the shifter. I don't know if the throw is any shorter...

Oh, uh... B-series shifter on a D-series... That I'm not sure of. Maybe someone who knows could chime in here...?

its ...slightly different but will work. Tried D series on my old DA integra and had clearance issues with exhaust, but going backwards, you will be just fine.

Also throw will be shorter, not much but it will. Also i believe they are dual bend so it will feel different.

From what I remember when I had my 98, was that the b-series shifter is slightly wider at the base where it connects to the shift linkage vs a d-series shifter. It can be made to fit, but if I recall, I couldnt be bothered to try it and I just bought a used SS for my car instead.

The b-series shifter was a dual bend like a Skunk2 but I dont think it would make the shifts any shorter.

Personally, I would upgrade the shifter bushings before Id get a SS. The factory rubber ones are probably very worn on a 10 year old Civic and new urethane bushings will make it feel like a whole new car.

thanks guys i think im gunna pick it up, i have acsess to a mill so i can machine the base of the shifter on each side for perfect fitment. my plans are to change the bushings while im at because there is quite a bit of slack i assume i should get the busing kit for a sohc right?

B-series shifters are much wider at the base than d-series.

Personally, the throw isn't THAT much better. There is a difference, but I'd much rather go with a reputable aftermarket company than fabricating a type-r shifter to fit.

i would have to agree with you that a quality aftermarket shortthrow would work better as well as fit without modification, but 30 bucks for a geniuine ek9 shifter is something i dont want to pass up on,i will likley be replacing it down the road with a b&m or skunk 2 anyway
