looking to spend $400-600 on just the clutch? or everything including labour/machine work?

B/c you'll spend $400 alone on a decent clutch and $50-100 machining the flywheel to insure the new clutch has a fresh mating surface.

I've got friends who've paid $500 for a clutch job in labour alone, which isn't unrealistic. Labour being at $85-100/hr and being a 4-6 hour job depending on the car, i'm sure you can see why its so expensive.

For a daily driver, thats slightly modded, I would recommend a stage1 clutch. It'll be able to hold the power/torque of a stock(ish) engine without making the clutch pedal excessively heavy.

I used an exedy stage 1 (organic) clutch on my modded b16 for about 4 years(80,000+kms) one of which was boosted at low psi. It held 250whp/175wtq during the gear, but when shifting hard it would slip, which isn't a surprise given that clutch wasn't designed to hold that much power. It was a great clutch, that still had lots of meat left when I took it out. The clutch pedal was heavier than stock, but not too heavy, good for a daily driver.

any advice?

I'm planning on changing my clutch and (hopefully) flywheel as well. I'm looking at a stage 1 exedy clutch. Has anyone heard about the F1 Prolite flywheel? Are they any good? or is my best bet the FIDANZA flywheel? The F1 flywheel is 8.5 pounds......
