cases
i bought a itr lsd tranny cheap off a buddy of mine that is broken. i bought it cuz i wanted the lsd pack inside. i have an b16 hydro tranny that is mint. i want to know if i can take apart the b16 tranny and place the the lsd pack in it with out having to make modifications to the case or shafts them self to make it fit. or is better/possible to put the b16 tranny into the itr lsd case instead.

^^yup exactly. the problem is the final drives arent the same, thus you have to swap the ring gear off the b16 diff to the lsd diff. Otherwise you'll be good. That is aslong as you are swapping the whole diff. Otherwise, the cases are slightly different on the inside and taking it apart wouldnt work.

numbers aside you should always swap the ring gear. the ring and pinion are a matched set and should never be used with a different one, even if it looks identical and has the same numbers.
be sure to look close inside the case of the trannies and make sure that they're the same around where the bearings of the diff sit. I don't know about b-series, I do have a LSD in my D-series, and haven't opened that trans yet but I do know that on older versions like the one in my 1g CRX, if you bought the Mugen LSD for it you had to shave and basically pollish down the case or the diff would rub and not only destroy it's self but the bearing on that side as well.
Also if you've never rebuilt a trans before, do a lot of reading and get a service manual and follow it to the letter. It's not hard to open one, but if you don't know how to line things up, putting it back together will be a nightmare, and you could crack the case and end up with 2 useless trannies

B16 and USDM ITR transmissions share the same final drive...
If you got a JDM ITR transmission...then the ring gear swap applies.
