Best Short Shifter?

Whats up all,
I am driving a 95 civic, and i was interested in buying a short shifter after i tried one on my buddies rsx-s. Now i am not familiar with the specs of them and what is a quality brand. I want something that will last, not something that lasts a year or two then its useless or i have replace something, i am mainly going for quality here. So if any of you know of some good brands, or any info on my car regarding them let me know. Any help would be greatly appreciated

Thanks

Bear in mind that the shifter mechanism, transmission and shift linkage n an RSX is totslly different then your 95 Civic. A s/s in an RSX will feel totally different then in an older Civic.

I had a Skunk2 in my 98 Civic. It shifted and felt great, but it was almost $200. Many people use B&M. They are only around $100 and probably just as good as a Skunk2.

Just put something under the boot to hold it up better. I used a small rubber washer to hold mine up.

Yah i took that into consideration, i was just getting pissed off with that extra stride i had to do when shifting...

Alright so it looks like B&M is looking good so far..

Thanks guys

I had a B&M in my EK hatch and it was awesome. Never rattled, and it would go into all gears so easily. I would definitely recommend B&M.

Installation is super easy, but you better have a warm garage to do this upgrade.

Don't forget when you install a short shifter you need to do urethane shifter bushings as well. Otherwise you may have a shorter throw shift but the slop will still be there.

You don't need to spend $200 for a good quality short throw shifter. You can go to teknotik and get a megan racing short throw for $35. It is a very good quality piece that works very well. I've had one in my car for over a year now and it works great.

Because you can shift faster, all the syncros and linkages move faster and it is harder on the tranny. It does help to have a good aftermarket clutch and light weight flywheel though.

I used to have B&M Racing Version short shifter. Not to be confused with regular S/S, this one provides the shortest throw for 92-00 Civics. It is actually short in body, comes with its own metal bushing and casing. All you need to do is take out the OEM shifter, OEM white colour pivet bushing and put this one in and bolt up the shift linkage and you are done.

The rattling has to do with shift linkage bushing as VTEC_Thunder pointed out. Get Energy Suspension shift linkage bushing and the rattling will go away.

Installation can be done as quick as 20 minutes or less. But it is type of work that is easy and painless, there is no need to rush it.

I recommend it because of its quality and overall package, you will know what I am talking about when you see one in person.
