How can I tell if an S80 Tranny is LSD - I know I should look for it stamped, but is it in any specific place? Thanks

A transmission with LSD is very simple, just
look into the differential and see if its opened or closed. (If out of the car or pull out the driveshafts and look in where they enter the housing.)
You'll either see a set of gears that form a closed cylinder, or you'll see an open
differential with a pin splitting the middle.
A quick google search can help you with much info. Check for the serial numbers also.

as said, look where driveshafts go. if there is a bar then its non-lsd, but if you cannot see through then it is.
Also all LSD transmission were stamped with LSD
