shifter linkage may be seized or something..

96_cx 26-Mar-2010 04:57 PM

park neutral drive all work fine ? i also changed the computer and still nothing my mechanic says he never seen anything like this befor lol

JDMej1 27-Mar-2010 11:54 PM

hmm thats odd.. there must have been something wrong with the tranny you put in, or how it was put in.. also to do a proper tranny flush you need to put it into reverse as well.

96_cx 28-Mar-2010 01:12 AM

the old tranny did the same thing reverse will only work if i play around with the shifter until the drive light flashes then i have full reverse ? any idea

JDMej1 28-Mar-2010 03:21 AM

thats really weird, maybe it has something to do with the wiring harness or ecu? thats about all i can think of

96_cx 28-Mar-2010 09:31 AM

i changed the ecu already this cars a pain the in ass lol

Persia 28-Mar-2010 09:44 AM

Persia 28-Mar-2010 09:45 AM

aka reverse lights (sorry morning time)

JDMej1 28-Mar-2010 10:36 AM

96_cx 28-Mar-2010 12:35 PM

^^ it's auto, it wouldn't be that offencive. the cable is prolly the problem. I'm not sure how the ecu would stop the car from going into reverse. the engine stalling out in reverse maybe but just not going into a specific gear, doubt the computer that doesn't physically have anything to do with gear selection can prevent you from getting into reverse. I think regardless of your mechanic never having seen this before, doesn't know what he's doing when it comes to proper diagnostics. Go see Zeeman or Chrisv2, or even me at my shop and have someone who will look at your car properly, and not just throw parts at it till the problem goes away, help you.

The fact that you car has had a tranny swap and still no reverse tells me that
A/ your mechanic is out to make a buck, not keep a customer and
B/ doesn't know what is going on inside an auto tranny, not surprised they are very complicated. Even Honda trannies, witch are worse than most because they refuse to pay royalties to use the normal planetary gear set that is used in everyone else's auto trannies.
