Have you checked your fluid level? When was the last time you changed it?

Torque converter...

Clutchs slipping, YES auto trannies do have clutches of their own...
It could be many things.

k. not my car, ex girlfriends car.....dont ask

i read alot of stuff last night and first thing i'll do is do a tranny fluid flush.
also read about a seperate computer for the tranny. but dont know if thats for the 88-91 civics or not. read about the clutchs could be the problem or the converter.. but that **** could be because the fluid is old or low or both.

most likely fluid level. filter could also be plugged, but the filter is internal, so if you gotta change it, it's gonna involve removing the tranny. haha

wow thats dumb.. why would they put the filter internal? most auto trannys you just got to dropp the pan.

cuz if you follow maintenance like you're supposed to, that filter never has to get changed. but really... what's the big deal with dropping the tranny once in a 17 year service life??

ummm the problem is its not my car and its cold outside. and its for an ex and im not spending a weekend tryign to fix it. lol is there a special way to do a transmission fluid flush? i read a little on honda tech saying that doing 3 tranny fluid changes withina small period of time is how you do it.. but that was for an accord or something.
