I have a 1997 honda civic ex sedan automatic, and the problem is my reverse doesn't work, and I have to manually shift my automatic car and I don't think that's normal. Sometimes it slips Aswell. So I think it's the transmission that's the problem but I'm not sure. So if anybody can help me out that would be great, it also grinds sometimes when I shift down and stop.

I have no idea how your trans is grinding if it's auto but either way sounds like your trans is toast. You could try having the fluid flushed out and replaced but sounds like lack of maintenance has killed yet another Honda trans. The way they are internally is different then the normal auto trans everyone else uses. It needs fluid changes way more then what you can get away with on other cars.
