2002 Vibration / noise

I have a noise which seems to be related to my tranny / clutch / T out B or some such thing..... I think. I have a reasonable grade down my street after I pull out of my drive and if I leave the car in first or second (MT) it makes a vibrating noise (not just the standard higher rev etc) which goes away as soon as i depress the clutch. This noise goes away when the car is warmer ie. it does not occur when I pull up to a light and gear down or what ever. There would also appear to be some play in the gear shift. not an enormous amount but some. The kicker is this, when the car reaches 110 km/hr and you let off the gas there's a vibration similar to mild case of bad alighnment or such. it goes away under acceleration. So, there's a ratteling/vibrating noise at low speed with car in gear no gas applied and going down hil (higher rpm) and a vibration at higher speed when off the gas and a little play in the shifter handle. the clutch itself is fine, no slipage or play in ingagement by the way. The car has 186K KM's on it and has original parts (Clutch etc). Wheels are good, tires in good shape etc. Brakes were replaced a year ago and are in good shape. Appreciate the input!

the release bearing (throw out) usually only makes noise at idle then goes away when you press the clutch pedal. I'm fairly certain what you are describing is the input shaft bearing. The shift linkage has nothing to do with this, a little play there is normal, the bushings involved with the linkage does wear somewhat tho. Either way, the linkage has to be undone and the all the other bearings involved are basically right there when dropping a trans to change any of the others, except the input, that one the trans it self has to be opened and the bearing swapped. It's possible its one of the diff bearings or other bearings in the trans, I personally when one goes, recommend changing them all so you only have to open the trans once.
