2000 Civic 1.6 BIG TRANSMISSION PROBLEM
Hey Guys,
Last night I was driving along and went to accelerate to overtake someone driving turtle speed, but I heard a clunk when I pressed on the gas. Didn't think anything of it, I know the Honda transmissions on the older models typically had a bit of a bang to them.
When I left a friends last night, I went to overtake someone again (believe me, Im not a dick driver, I live in slow-poke area of Markham), and now the transmission has no power at high RPM. The engine revs up, but the transmission doesn't go anywhere.
I can accelerate normally (like from a traffic light), but if i go to punch it, I don't move.
Did an experiment...went to an old road in the rural end and gave it all it had. Engine revved to about 6000 RPM and then the tranny jammed into the next gear and then we went with the same song and dance, 6000 RPM, jam into next gear, and so on. Each time, hardly any increase in speed
Because I know the more info, the better, here are the particulars...
2000 Civic SE Sedan
D16Y7 1.6 SOHC non-vtec
Automatic Transmission - not built or modified
Fluid Change done end of November, running with Lucas transmission conditioner
Fluid at normal capacity, not low and still pink. No discolouration or mixing with fluids.
If anyone could give me a hint as to what this could be, i would appreciate it. I know the tranny is probably done for, but I'm hoping the off chance it can be fixed which should be cheaper than doing a swap.
Thank you!!

Sorry to say this, but im afraid you will be needing a new tranny. There are several things that could have gone wrong with it, but its not worth rebuilding it. Just buy another one and call it a day. These transmissions sell for 200-400$ and its not tbat much work to swap it.
