1996 Honda Civic wont get into a gear?

I have a automatic 1996 Honda Civic and it wont get into any gear. When I try to go to D4, D3, 2 or Reverse the car feels like its in neutral. But after I turn the car off and wait a couple of minutes, then start the car it gets into a gear but I can only drive a couple of feet before the engine just starts revving and feels like it is in neutral. I did get an engine code P0700. The oil in the transmission is good (red in color) and the level is also good. Can anyone tell me what the problem could be and how I can fix it?
Thanks

Is it throwing any other codes? P0700 is a basic transmission fault which doesn't tell you anything specific. There should or could be another code as well. If you can, find out and let us know.

A stab in the dark, it could be the linear solenoid. (code P0715)
