X Copper

has anyone ever tried them? how much do they cost?

on another matter, do you get demerit points for your first speeding offence? :bling:

kwikb16a2 08-Oct-2004 04:56 PM

u can get demerit points for any speeding offence but it depends how much u were going over.

Colly 08-Oct-2004 05:09 PM

22 over, but i thought you didn't get demerit points on the first offence?

iceburg_shorty 08-Oct-2004 05:23 PM

22 and over, ive dealt wit x-copper once they can usually get a ticket like that down to 15 over, shich wud be no points and a $50 ticket

i got points on my 1st offence. can tell u wat they will charge cuz they told me two dif prices the 2 times i stopped by the office

imported_SiR_YO 08-Oct-2004 09:37 PM

ya I just got a BS ticket for going 25 over .. when I was pretty much going the speed of traffic... I definitely got picked on cuz of my car.. but anyways.... my first speeding ticket like 3 years ago I was going 25 over too... paid something like $280 I think and the best they could do was drop it to 10 over .. so no points, still had to pay the fine and everything ($45-$50) ... this time around I'm just gonna fight it myself

imported_Lofty 08-Oct-2004 11:03 PM

I used points (a few times)
Lets just say my fines would have been around $800 plus licence suspension, they got me off. Cost around $600 though.

and I wasn't even in my Honda - I was in my wifes Van - actually every ticket I've had was in the van....????

I find you end up paying the same (whether you just pay fine/court fees or use x-copper) but using x-copper gets your offence reduced..which is better, Mind you insurance still can f-u for a few 10/15Km over tickets.

BTY - if you're gonna flame me about my driving - I have 15 Years and over a million kilometers experience.. sorry if I tend to accedently exceed the speed limit at 4AM...

YEP ... 4am no cars on the road course your gonna open it up ...

i've used points as well ...
#1
when i was younger i had a careless driving ticket (not gonna tell how it went down( and thru points it got dropped to improper lane change =no points, keep license... but cost me almost $1000...

#2 same as SiR_YO, got picked out of 6 cars all doin 130km, guess what i was driving ... anybody ... yep it was an EF Si with exhaust ... went to points and i argued that when i went to driving school i was taught that as long as you are going the same rate of speed as the flow of traffic and not obstructing then its technically not speeding ... points told me that would be exactly what they will say in court ... so u know what, i saved my self $360 by goin to court and defending myself and then an additional $110 for the fine and no points ...

save yourself money go and fight it yourself ... but for something heavy like careless i think its worth the money cuz they can work somemagic

imported_nsr250 08-Oct-2004 11:50 PM

I think I got about 4 speeding tickets total ,1 of them was for like going 10-15 over and 2 of them I used a ticket fighter and got reduced to no points and like $50 fine or something. One of them cost me like $500 to fight cause I was going 40 over at like 2am on the 401 driving my boss's GM1500 cargo van or something like that coming back from Ottawa from a delivery I made there for some kinda elevator motor. So I got pulled over somewhere close to Brockville so I had to pay the lawyer to travel there to go to court.

Oh and my first speeding ticket was 39 over when I was like 19 years old. I haven't gotten a speeding offence in over 2 years now. I'd like to keep it that way hehe.

driving instructors who teach their students that its ok to speed to keep up with the flow of traffic should be shot.

if you go over the speed limit then you're breaking the law. no ifs or buts.

did you plea "guilty with a lesser charge" for that 130km/h? cuz the chances of em throwing out MY ticket completely are slim I'm thinkin' ... so wouldn't want the chance of the judge feelin' like a jerk that day and say, you look like a young punk ass kid that doesn't care about the laws etc.. etc.. and then rules the same sentence... then I'll be focked... I think if I did say that I was going speed of traffic and got picked out due to my car but at the same time pleaded guilty, then they'd reduce it to 10 over... at least no points.. but still on my record nonetheless :(

Davey_Racer 09-Oct-2004 03:14 AM

so an improper lane change or did not make a safe lane change is not points on ur license??

that's exactly what happened to me, i was picked out of 4 cars because i look like young and my car had altezzas (i'm guessing)

they were all speeding with me, but do you think if i told a judge that he'd reduce my ticket so i wouldn't lose any points? or should i just be safe and hire xcopper? i'm not too worried about the cost.

imported_kIeRaN 09-Oct-2004 12:00 PM

seriously, dont use X copper or any of that crap. Its so easy to get the ticket reduced yourself when u go to court. I take it people are scared to go up in front of the judge but they are usually really nice to you and seem to always want to help. I am 18 and have gone to court for 2 of my tickets, the first one was for going 15 over, the cop never showed up so i didnt ahve to pay anything. And all i had to do was go up in front of the judge, say my name and then i said thank you after she told me my charges were dropped. For my second ticket (170 dollars for having a radar detector) teh cop showed up. I told the judge this time when i went up that i am just starting college and i really dont have much money at the moment, she asked me what i thought was a fair fine, i said 60 bux and she said sure and gave me 60 days to pay it.
So IMO, companies like X copper and Points are doing something that u could very easily do yourself, U just need to not be a wimp and go to court!
