Will this ticket effect my record?

Hi, I got a ticket for making a left hand turn from Younge street onto Dundas and the offence says "Proceed contrary to slow at intersection" (144.9), would this effect my insurance rates by any chance?..
Any information would be great, Thanks

unless it gets thrown out in court, all tickets can affect your insurance. upto what extent will depend upon one company to other

Why would you think that? These types of charges are the easiest of all to convict on.

Prosecutor: "Did you make a left turn?"
You: "Yes"

GUILTY
Easier than a speeding ticket.

Signs
(9) The provisions of this section are subject to any sign, as prescribed by the regulations, forbidding a left turn, right turn, through movement or combination thereof that is posted at an intersection and every driver shall obey every such sign. R.S.O. 1990, c. H.8, s. 144 (9).

I was talking to an insurance broker who said most of his companies give you 1 "freebie", depending on severity (upto minor speeding), then from the 2nd one you get 10% premium per ticket, including the first one.

it's not a lost cause, but I wouldn't plan on pleading innocent!

They may offer you a lesser charge...

talk to a paralegal.

don't assume you're guilty.

you're not a judge, you don't know the law.

i know that intersection, what time did you turn there and what are the times posted on the sign for when you can and cant turn, i think its only certain times that you can turn left there like out side of the rush hour. turning where there is a sign telling you not to is like going through a red light, itsa minor offence and the insurance probly wont do anything with it cuz its not a speed issue. however, you should fight the ticket, if the cop doesnt show up then it gets thrown out. I used points when i got caught driving without insurance (i know that was dumb) but they got me off completely. but for sure go back and look at the times posted on the sign and compar to the time on the ticket.

I would go to court, give a really good explanation as to why you made the turn and hope to make a deal with the court. Don't make up a bollox excuse but instead tell the prosecutor that you are sorry and hope they can cut you a break with lesser fine/punishment.

i.e. fine with no points.
