what's with Burlington speeding tickets???

So, they got me for 45km over in a 60 zone.
I called few places in Burlington and apparently it suck these days to get cought there. You get these dedicated cops that only do speed traps, always show up at the court and to add insult to injury, you get new JP who is a dedicated bit$h that loves to fine speeders.
What are my options here guys, seem like the old tricks won't work here to get me off the hook.

If you were doing 45 in a 60, you got deserved

Jay P 05-Feb-2008 09:37 PM

don't mean to be rude ... but don't speed?

45 over in a 60... sorry but you deserve what you got

this is a situation where an 80km/h limit changes out of no where to 60. I do watch my speed generaly, not that time. I felt I was going with the flow of the traffic.
Thanks for nothing.

In all honesty what did u expect people to think cause even if it an 80 u were sitll going 25 over which is still speeding

This man speaks the truth. You got what you deserve. If you go 15-20 over, OK, but 45 over?

That would be a speed trap. The cops that pulled you over would be dedicated traffic cops and therefore will always show up to court and will generally have no leniency. I remember reading in the paper or something about some traffic enforcement program they were starting.

Try Points or something similar to help you with the ticket.

Oh, and don't speed.:hand:

one of the areas that you should specially be careful around in Burlington is Appleby and Dundas...around the Walmart. Cops usually hide their cruisers on a sideroad on the northeast corner and with their radars.

19 years of driving and this is my first ticket. I'd say that's pretty good. I'll try to get it reduced. It's just a matter of who will I go with.

Cynikal.Mindset 06-Feb-2008 04:24 PM

19years and your luck ran out...

Ek4_hatch 06-Feb-2008 04:57 PM

I think all you you who say "you got what u deserve" are absolute hypocrites and in addition brainwashed to think the paying money to greedy governments is some how a honorable thing.
First of all im sure we all speed at some point, and second paying fines for speeding does not make ppl stop speeding, this is why people have reacurring speeding tickets
this man says he has been driving for 19 years with out a ticket, i think he should have been given a warning, and thats it.
Cops are just seep Nazi's and all of you who support them are just brainwashed to conform
99% of accidents happen from bad driving not occasional speeding

xray 06-Feb-2008 05:10 PM

^C'mon!!! Use common sense. Who cares how long he was driving for. The fact is that he went 105 in a 60.
So you're saying that old man I think he was the oldest guy (80+, I believe) got caught doing over 150 on the 401 should get a warning? Pleaseeee!

fines for speeding do make people stop speeding , you are telling someone that gets a 150 for speeding is going to keep speeding.
I know that anyone with common sense after they receive a speeding ticket is going to start watching their speed to avoid paying more tickets in a month. Not many people have recurring tickets , and even if they do i m sure they got better at their speeding habits but not completely quit . But thats just a minority , most people would learn their lesson

Unfortunately paying money is the only way to punish this drivers, how else can they be punish?? jail time? volunteer hours?? come on , be real on this , it hurts anyone when he has to pay a speeding ticket

So i guess according to you , we should all not support cops and do whatever the help we want, we may as well take the speed limit of everystreet and do whatever we like. Sorry to break it but there are rules and cops are there to enforce those rules. I find some laws to be dumb (like the cover plate law), but speeding is actually a pretty serious rules, we dont want a toronto full of accidents because people do whatever they want to do and because some think the streets are track racers.

Although i disagree with you on almost everypoint . I kind of agree that if this is the first speeding ticket in 19 years he could of got a warning. Or at least reduce the speed on the ticket a little bit to avoid points and a less expensive tickets.

I think we all speed sometimes , but 10- 20 over is not as bad as 45 .
I rarely go on the speed limit , i usually go 10-15 and sometimes 20-25 if i m late , however i know that i m taking the risk so i make sure there isnt cops around
