What should I do~

Last week, i hit a car in an apartment's parking lot. Just touch it a little bit.
That car's pumber had a little scart. I left him a paper & told him my phone #. An hour after, he called me, he said he didn't want to claim the insurance. I said if it's not more than 300 bucks, i would like to pay. He said ok, u would go to check the price.
Then i check certain garages, they also said it shouldn't be more than 300 bucks.
Then he call me again, he wants to go to fix in Honda & ask me to pay 800+tax. I said it's too expensive. Then, he said if go to another garage that he trusted, it would be 500.
What should I do now? It's too expensive to pay 500 for a little scart.

you sound like an honest person, after all you left your number and all... talk to the guy and try to compromise, tell him how much it costs from what you found out, and if he would like it, you will take it in and get it fixed.. if he wants to go to honda, then offer to cover a reasonable amout based on your quotes, and he can pay extra if he wants special service at honda.

I found out it's about 200 bucks only.
but he wants to charge me 450. His reason is that cheap service is not good. And he also wants to ask me to pay the money that he lend a car during the car is fixing.
he is just like wanna me to pay him at least a thousand bucks.

But some people said that he cannot claim my insurance now because the apartment parking is private place, so the police would not care about this case; he didn't report the accident that day, so the police would not care the case anymore. Also, he does not have my insurance policy #. So, he has no method claim my insurance. Are those true?

First of all, he would not claim under your insurance, he claims under his own ...And since he has your note and I assume some of your info, he can call his insurer, set up a claim and then his insurance company will call your company and have a claim set up on your end, confirm that you have a valid insurance policy and HIS company will pay for HIS damage, and your company will likely call you to see if you have any damage, hold you at fault and close your file if plan on not claiming... Also, it makes no difference where it happens, on the orad, in a parking lot.... You hit a parked vehicle and are at fault, in the eyes of the insurance company, the police do not care about fault, the insurance company does

I would just pay the damage for his car (resonable rate) only. Autobody shops should have a loaner car (?)

Either that you tell him f u and talk to the insurance company

Sounds like he is trying to steal your money and rip you off bro. I would pay him and take him to the shops that gave you the price. Do that. And try to get a reasonable difference. B/c you did leave ur number, you could have juts not and made him pay the whole 300 bucks. No way it shouldnt be more than 500 at all. He is bull****ting you. He just wants profit. Easy money he is thinking.

if he were to claim it on his insurance he would have to have an accident report, but seeing as how he did not go to the accident reporting centre within 24 hrs of the accident he would also be charged with failure to report an accident and im sure he doesn't want a charge on him for something he didnt do so he would be foolish to make a claim and his diductable is probably more then the damage anyway so i think he is tryin to scam u abd get some money off of u so give him the $300 and tell him to f off.

Man, you are so far off on so many points.

Accidents on private property do not need to be reported to police unless personal injury is involved.

Accidents to parked cars are almost always the fault of the moving car that ran into the parked car. He can make a claim and not worry about being at fault.

The person who ran into the parked car needs to realize that he did the damage to another person's car, and that he has a legal and moral responsibility to make the damage right to the reasonable satisfaction of the victim. The victim gets to choose within reason where the car will be fixed. "Your" fix might be a $10 spray paint application, but he would be a fool to accept it.

So fine, pay up or tell him to fo. But if you tell him to fo, he has a lot of options to make your life a lot more miserable than it is right now. He has the moral and legal high ground on this one. Someone damaged his car. Now that person has to make it right.

This is what you do...make him go out and get WRITTEN QUOTES FROM MULTIPLE PLACES ON PAPER. If he doesn't do that, let him call the cops or whatever, and just say listen, I asked him to get me quotes and he wouldn't. How do I know he's not ripping me off?

I did this once before cops never called me again and I never ended up paying ****.
