Traffic Ticket Help... Right turn on a red light!

Hi there i was hoping someone could help me out. I got a ticket tonight for making a right turn on an intersection without completely stopping my car. The ticket says "Red Light - Fail to stop - community safety zone" I didnt run the red light really i made a right turn on a red light. What can i say in court to get out of it? There is also a box where the officer clicked that there were no witnesses but i had a friend in the car isnt he a witness? Anyhow anything would help. I cant pay those stupid trafic ticket companies so i need some help on what to say...

Thanks

When making a right turn at a red light, you are supposed to come to a complete stop, look and then complete the turn. If the officer saw you roll (however slowly) through the right turn that's why he gave your ticket. Unless you did come to a complete stop or perhaps have the moolah for traffic paralegal, your best bet is to plead for a lesser fine.

wow! your a bright child eh? who doesnt know this.. i dont even come to a complete stop unless theres people or lots of cars.. obviously he knows this dunno why u repeated pretty much what he said..

take it to X-copper, they will knock off the ticket for u, i know a guy that got the same ticket a few times and took it to them and it got fought off.. its not like that big of a thing so its pretty easy for them to win it for u

Yeah but if he goes to X-copper he's goin to have to pay just as much as he would have for the ticket. Your best bet is to take it to court, and hope the officer doesn't show, either that or just plea for a smaller fine.

Some people don't.

I just re-iterated it for the sake of saying. So :upyours:

What I'm not sure from his original post is whether he's claiming innocence or what. He said he made the right turn on the red. But either way, the friend in the car could be a witness to get him off.

People assume when they are at a red light, for some reason, they have the right of way, doing rolling stops have become just go right through, I am sure if you did a rolling stop, you wouldn't have gotten a ticket..........go pay it

Cynikal.Mindset 29-Jun-2006 05:05 PM

friends and family arent valid witnesses...rolling stop or not u ran the red...thats like rolling through a red light goin straight, same thing yo!

this was ridiculous....it hapenned at 3am and NOBODY anywhere except i dont know where he poppoed out of.... what i wonder is what do compaies like x-copper and others say to the judge to get the tickets dropped or reduced? Thats the question???

Just say "I'm guilty your honour". That will take care of things for you real quick.

By the way, "witnesses" in your car are not considered to be reliable or independent, and their word will carry next to no weight in court.

So what have you learned so far from this experience?

3am or 3pm the same rules still apply for red lights

Nova_Dust 04-Jul-2006 12:27 PM

Time of day don't matter. Obey the rules at all times. It will help you a long way.

bdotdan 10-Jul-2006 08:39 PM

just tell the judge you're innocent cause it was 3:00am, that will def. help lol

Obviously you don't know this! You are basically admitting that you break the law on a regular basis! Sorry but after getting nailed by a red light runner, I have no sympathy :shrugs: I wish that even X-coppers didn't fight those type of tickets! What reason does one have not to stop, I was to lazy to shift into first :shrugs: the average red light only last's for 40 sec.

Look at the old guy behind the wheel. Doesn't even have a clue of what just happened. His license should be banned for life! Doesn't even look like its raining and his wipers are on too! WTF!
