Tell me about your driving school..?

Hey guys, I'm trying to locate a good driving school for my lady to attend. I went to one on Dundas called Guide. It wasn't bad, and affordable. Problem with that place is that there is one teacher, and he's a complete pervert. I would never put my lady in that position. If you attended a driving school that you enjoyed, please list it here. If you could remember the price, that would be a bonus. Please don't list YD, as I'm in no mood to be ripped off. Thanks in advance ladies and gents.

Edit* Forgot some details! We live in Toronto *Dupont & Symington* Also, does your school pick-up?

Young Drivers of Canada, multiple places to go to in the GTA and West, plus when you get your certificate the insurance companies credit you with I think 5 years experience driving, it dropped my rates quiet a bit...

pfftt Young Drivers is a rip... same certificate for your insurance company as any other driving school out there...

it's a tick box for your insurance company Driver Training completed? Y/N... they check Y and your rates go down...

i mean really it's what like 30 hours in class or something like that? i paid 250 i think for 10 hrs in car, and 30 hrs in class or whatever it was... 4 days in class and i was done, we always got out early, and it was the easiest **** ever...

if you have money to burn go YD, they'll teach you tons of extra useless stuff too like walking around your car checking the tires all the signals before you even start the damn thing... haah who has the time for that anyways?

just take a course somewhere for around 250 and pocket the 300+ savings you'll have from not going to YD

Naww, she actually needs to learn how to drive. YD is what I meant by Young Drivers, and from what I have seen - they are a rip off. After speaking to some friends in the insurance loop, their certificate means as much as any other. Thank you for the advice though. Anyone else?

^^ ya i'd rather have everyone take drivers ED than just pay for a cert... paying off your e-test is one thing, but not knowing how to drive is waaay more serious...

This is the biggest contradiction ever! Did you not say in the other thread about Connie and Dennis' friend that people shouldnt be driving unsafe cars?. How would they know unless they did a walk around?. I do a walk around daily on my car..I make sure nothings broken or damaged, make sure my tires look good-pressure wise, rims that kinda thing, you cant say that learning something in drivers education is useless...it could save a life one day..

Ya people should NOT be driving unsafe cars.

I never said they should.

Would that broken tie-rod have been visible from doing a walk around inspection to make sure that all the turn signals were working?

What's the difference between this and that you ask?

The difference is that he KNEW it was unsafe! And yet chose to drive ANYWAYS, and to top it off speed (close to double the speed limit 100km in what appears to be a 50km area) and give it a 'little gas' ... with passengers in the car. If something had happened to someone would everyone be so forgiving? i think not.

Anyways, I never said Drivers ED is useless, if you read the post directly above yours you'll see how i said that it's important to go and learn as opposed to paying $50 for the piece of paper.

I think paying 600+ bucks for YD is useless that's all. They teach you alot of stuff that's impractical, not used in the real world. My opinion, you don't have to agree with it.

anyways back to this thread, which has NOTHING to do with the other thread...

I was under the impression she could drive. If she cant drive please put her in a course so she doesnt rear end my civic like some other terrible drivers... or teach her yourself

RED MEANS STOP!
GREEN MEANS GO!
STOP AT YELLOW ANYWAYS IF YOU CAN!
LAUNCH ON 3 BEEPS.. haha jk on that one

young drivers is so expensive! i saved a lot when my high school had it for like $300 or so, kinda good because it did actually save a couple a $$ towards my insurance(this is the main reason i took it)
