TD wont insure me because of exhaust

So, I just found out TD insurance wont insure me of my exhaust. Now, i'm scrambling to find a insurance company and quick. Anybody know a good insurance company that will accept minor mods?

Polkaroo Killa 20-May-2009 12:36 PM

Lame.

Did you tell them about your exhaust, or did they come out and inspect your car?

CivicsGalor3 20-May-2009 01:21 PM

Blonde Moment. I told them figuring they already knew

shlammed 20-May-2009 01:26 PM

better off telling them anyway. The last thing you'd want is to get into an accident and then find out that your coverage is void because of mods that weren't declared.

most insurance companies dont accept mods...

TD are real picky tho... u need to take it somewhere for them to inspect it! They would have found out either way.

They have really good prices tho.

Give state farm a call.

My brother went for inspection today for TD. With aftermaket rims/steering wheel n the guy didn't even pop the hood. Ended off talking about the guys prelude and his mods loll.

Economical, belairdirect...allstate. they all do, but will most likely inspect your car. they didnt care about my exhaust at all. They seemed to be more concerned about the system, deck...& rims.

yeah that!

state farm isn't big on mods... but an exhaust, intake and lowering is considered "okay"

What's so funny?

When I had my Acura, State Farm allowed me to have coilovers, full aftermarket exhaust and intake. No extra premium charges either.

Same situation with a good friend. The guys who did the inspection put jacks under her car to get it at stock ride height, they bolted on steelies and left the hood shut. No issues.. haha

rims are not an issue.. they are esthetics. Insurance has no issue with esthetics as long as they are not an obstruction to the driver or other drivers on the road considering that makes it illegal

but yeah... not too sure why you had to hide your rims :noidea:

State Farm has all my EG mods and everytime I did something to the car I showed them receipts. My broker has been good to me.
Not to mention my last EG that got tottaled by some drunk driver, SF gave me a little over 5'gs for my ride taking in'to consideration the mods that where on it. Thats why I got such a good return

whats funny is that they wanted me to pay $8000/year for a 1998 civic 4 years ago when the actual policy i got from another company was $1500

Really?!?! Holy cow!

I'm paying $100/mo for my car now with State Farm.
And I was paying $90/mo for my Acura EL about 5 years ago.

shlammed 21-May-2009 03:07 PM

ya

I couldn't believe it. I was asking if it was some kind of mistake and he was like "nope". So I laughed at him on the phone and hung up.

I would have done the same thing.

I swear some insurance companies are on crack.
So they quoted $8000/year for a 7 year old Civic (at the time), when the car was probably worth $4-5000.....it just makes no sense at all!!:der:

shlammed 21-May-2009 04:03 PM

They're funny no matter what the situation. I still have the civic and it's falling apart. I'm getting rid of it once I make my mind up about what car I want.

I got quotes from my company for cars like C230 and new Accord and the rates weren't much higher meanwhile my car is worth 1/30th of those.

Thats ridiculous.
Where you under 21 then??
4 years a'go for my EG full coverage was $725 bucks a year at SF.
