WTF is a "tat tis ticket"? English mother****er, do you speak it?

If you got a ticket for no insurance when you had no insurance then you're in for some nasty fines. If the cop didn't write you up for it because he believed you forgot it, then you should be alright, simply because nobody is going to take the trouble to correlate your insured periods with your tickets.

lets see average cost of insurance ont his board (from what I've seen): 3500/year

first offense for no insurance: 5000

and it just goes up from there.

I'd say it's a savings to have insurance.

Those are not typographical errors. Those are wholesale mutilations of the English language. Maybe he's trying to impress us with gangsta or street lingo, or maybe he is just functionally illiterate. Either way, the post does nothing to paint him as an accomplished communicator.

Come to think of it, neither does your post.

I'm not a great English teacher, but that doesn't keep me from recognizing sloppy writing when I see it.

For instance, it's not "since your such a great english teacher". It should be "since you're such a great english teacher" Did you not learn proper use and spelling of contractions?

Also, I don't like to apply band-aid solutions when major reconstructive surgery would be more appropriate.

With that in mind, why don't you and your friend start with Writing 101? http://www.write101.com/nouns.htm

thx motti.....appreciate the help....
one thing, I'm starting to not understand about people on forums, is why they have to say something like others r trying to speak like gangstas or thugs....have u ever thought that maybe the guy just came to Canada? I mean nobodies perfect, give the guy a break, he came to ask a simple question, he should get a simple answer. Toronto is very multicultural, meaning there must be some people who are juss learnin english, I'm sure motti urself, once must've had some difficulties w/english....If you're really this worried about how everybodies english is on this forum, i suggest u go through every forum n correct everybodies english. I'm sure their r plenty of ppl on this forum worst than pdog and me....I'm sorry if i offended anybody in anyway w/me n pdog's terrible english

Hong Kong was until very recently a British enclave. English would also have been quite widely spoken. Most of the Hong Kong immigrants that I know speak English more proficiently than I do.

The handles "pdog" and "pimpin-el", never mind the language used, suggest a deliberate attempt at conveying a gangsta image.

haha....motti....This is torontocivics.com....I'm not getting marked on my spelling, therefore I use abreviations. I'm pretty sure that there are other people on this forum, who use short forms for certain words, to make life easier...

So you abbreviate abbreviations to abreviations to make life easier? And school to skool? And dropping the "g" off all your "ing"s?

Sure thing.

And just what is "tas" short for?

All in all, it still looks more like illiteracy and sloppiness than abbreviations. Still, it's totally up to you if you want your posts to be seen as sloppy, illiterate and incomprehensible.

ok, no longer, will I use short-forms or not re-read my own posts how about that Motti? "tas" short for that, you see some people with friends, use a specific program to communicate with one another called "MSN" or "ICQ" or even "AOL", and these people tend to become very lazy and type "tas" instead of that, understand?
