suspension

Hey everyone,

I'm just wondering if i change my suspension for my car is it illegal? or like is it only legal if i tell my insurance.. cause i'm pretty confused about it.. cause i'm interested in buying a set of HFP suspension for my civic ex coupe.. any opinion will be greatly appreciated

the insurance companies don't care..it's totally legal as long as there is no wheel rub

actually they do care, I called state farm to get a quote cuz my buddy was getting a good rate there and first thing they asked me is if it the car was lowered and I said yes and she said sorry we don't cover lowered cars.. it is legal though as long as you're not too low where you are rubbing when you turn the wheels

insurance companies have the right to refuse coverage. one of the reasons they may not want to cover it is because of things like rear end crashes. if your car is lowered enough, the bumper infront of you can end up doing a lot more damage.

state farm just happens to be one of those companies who are pretty **** about it.

what if u don't tell them u changed them and get in an accident that doesnt involve the suspension or involes them

they can refuse to cover you and cancel your insurance

yep

i actually said what I said about rear ending a car because that's exactly what happened to someone who was on TCC years ago

was with state farm, rear ended a guy in the 401 and his car was so low that the car he hit was literally sitting on his hood and caused way more damage then it would have if it wasn't lowered.

they refused coverage.

holy!...used to be with state farm a few years ago...they never bothered me with a lowered golf
one thing with state farm is that they treat you well until you get speeding ticket or an at fault collision
at the moment im with TD canada trust which they are great...they offer the same policy where the first at fault collision is voided
TD didn't ask me if the car was lowered..they were only concerned if there was any motor or exhaust mods
